" . . . first time in Randy Rahe’s tenure at Weber State, the Wildcats defeated Montana in the Big Sky Conference tournament, topping the Grizzlies on Saturday 62-59 to move on to the NCAA Tournament. “It's about time. They've been a little bit of a thorn in our side,” Rahe said about Montana. “I have great respect for what they do and how they do it up there, they are a class program. But, they've knocked us out of the tournament a few times and sent us on our way.” “It's about time we ended up winning one of these games. I guess you could say we were due,” Rahe said." . . . "Determined to keep their streak against Weber State in the conference tournament alive, the Grizzlies capitalized on offensive rebounds and turnovers to cut the lead down to 41-38 at halftime. “We got off to a great start and made some shots early,” Rahe said. “But Montana is really good, they're not going to go away, so they made a push at the end of the half. And then it just settled in to being a slugfest, a fistfight, which is what we expected all along.” The second half was a defensive battle. Only five combined points were scored in the final six minutes before Baker made the last layup, making every possession count down the stretch."

Lunardi / ESPN projects weber as a 15 seed in the West (Spokane) against 2-seeded Oregon

Congratulations to Weber State. You folks have a fine basketball program. It's a great rivalry with UM. I'm already looking forward to next season. Good luck in the Big Dance!

Record: 26-8, 15-3 in Big Sky

Why They're Here: After a disappointing 2014-15 season, Weber State returned to its normal spot atop the Big Sky standings thanks to a senior who absolutely feasts on rebounds.

Reason to Believe: Joel Bolomboy is a wrecking ball. He has 25 double-doubles in 30 games this season, including three games with at least 20 points and 20 rebounds. Weber State didn't face any great opponents this season, but Bolomboy did have 11 points and 16 rebounds against Arizona in the 2014 tournament as a sophomore.

Reason to Worry: In the three games they played against the KenPom Top 100 (BYU and two against South Dakota State), the Wildcats committed 55 turnovers while forcing just 34. And those teams are average at best in the turnover department. As has been the case for several years, Weber State doesn't do a good job of protecting or pilfering the ball.

March Madness Ceiling: Bolomboy will be fun to watch, but soak up as much of him as you can, because the Wildcats won't advance beyond the round of 64.

ESPN. Ouch
