ogden account of game

here's a weird account of last night's game, from the ogden standard-examiner. one of the greatest individuals performances anywhere anytime this year in college basketball, and anthony johnson's name isn't even mentioned until the fourtheen paragraph! talk about homers...

Well at least most of them are small paragraphs.

It occurred to me that a WSU fan mst have felt a bit like Griz football fans watching Matt Szczur or perhaps even Randy Moss in action. At some point you knew who was going to get the ball but there was simply no way to stop them. Pretty helpless and really frustrating for a fan. The first thing you want to do is blame your own coaches. (See the fan comment at the bottom of the article) Giving credit to the amazing athletic performance comes as an afterthought.

It was nice to see a Griz lay this on an opponent for a change.

Been noticing a lot of comments from Weber fans being incredibly harsh on Session.. On ESPN's site things got especially nasty. Not really fair for them to jump all over him for this loss. The free throws hurt, but shit...where would their team have been without him on it this year? The guy jumps center for them, averaged about 12 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3 assists and 2.1 steals per game for them in the conference season. He also averaged almost 1 block a game and had a positive assist/turnover ratio. Not too bad for a 6'2" guard! They should feel lucky to have a player like that who does so many things well.

Gotta like this one:

Yeah, the comment at the bottom of that article is way off base. I imagine he might relax a bit after a while. Weber played excellent team ball that first half. They way they were working the ball inside was fantastic. They were getting very easy looks on our D. Weber has the league MVP and the newcomer of the year as well. I think that might mean that Rahe is a better coach and recruiter than that poster thinks.

I will note, though, that thought Weber trumped us in league accolades we came out on top at the end, just like in football the last few years.

Living in Salt Lake City, watching local news last night -- I think it was channel 5 KSL coverage, a blonde lady reporting from Ogden showing her Weber State necklace she received from the coaches wife, literally started tearing up at the end of the report.

that was funny right there

perspective

If it wasn't my Bobcats, actually glad someone from Montana is dancin

Hope the griz play here in SLC

Well, it is doubly nice since we know how Weber fans must have felt. When Montanan nearly blew the giant lead they had on NCU, I was expecting the Griz to begin playing "not to lose". Instead, they picked up the agressive play champions do....and pulled it out....Weber gave it a shot, but damn, Johnson and Cherry really put on a show....can't wait for next year, though there are some big shoes to fill.....I wonder if we will see a performance like AJ gave last night any time soon.....

I don't consider the fan comments on most ESPN game links to resemble anything even remotely reasonable. Damn near everytime I read that tripe it's a bunch of dude's bitching about losing money (gambling). Serves em right for betting on teams they really don't know, or care, anything about.

I also don't see a problem with the Ogden, Utah newspaper doing an article focusing on the WSU side of the story. Home media services cover home teams. Same thing happens to road teams with coverage from The Missoulian.

Even though AJ played out of his gourd, it's only (sadly) going to be a blip on the overall sports news scene. WSU is playing fifth fiddle to the Jazz, BYU, U of Utah and Utah State.

Sad to see some of their fans bagging on Session. WSU wouldn't have made it that far without what he adds to their team.

it's already more than a blip, and i bet the AJ story get's coverage in the tourney. NCAA eats this stuff up.

They were too worried about what the posters on eGriz would say..

..thanks to MrTitleist for the pic.

geez, i went back to the ogden paper to look at the pictures. one of a.j. playing defense, another of him stumbling forward on his dribble. no way you could read that story or see the pix and have any clue of the true nature of the game--nothing in conformity with objective reality. who does their editing, fox news?

Yeah, Fox news has real issues with their editing, because the ratings show that. Keep politics out of this thread.
