I think there is a more accurate way of stating this hire. Hauck has proven what he can and can't do as a head coach. Pease has been an OC and on staffs at major programs. Not hard to see a jump. Who knows if Hauck could maintain and exceed where he left off but he was the safe bet. Pease is an unknown as a head coach but the ascension to HC isn't unimaginable. Stitt has been a HC but at a much lower level. Stitt's selection seems to be the biggest stretch of the three. Has been done spectacularly well and equally poorly at other programs. Haslem will receive the credit either way. As I see it, Haslem went all in with the hire. If it works then he will be the genius, if not, then the biggest goat in the State. Go Griz!

odd, I did not realize that D2 was a "much lower level"

So you are saying that his coaching experience with recruiting, budget, etc., is on par? Seems a little naive. Big jumps in competition in all phases. Not predicting success or failure.

That is not what you stated. And no, I don't think recruiting will be an issue, especially with him retaining 3 current coaches and bringing in Germer. As for the budget...it is not like the guy is going to be walking around with wads of 1000's dealing them out like business cards. The athletic department has several good people in place to...you know...keep track of the budget. In all honesty, dealing with the budget will probably be easier. And if a guy can coach, the guy can coach no matter the competition level...we will see if the guy can coach.

When its a program like Montana you don't go with unknown quantities. You go with what will elevate the program. Hauck or Pease could do that or maintain the level we are already at. No question about it. Instead we go with a toss up.. Is this a good hire? No. Kent seriously shot himself in the foot with this one and lost all credibility. MD then Bob Stitt.. KH couldn't hire a good football coach if he wanted to. All bout dice rolling and poor decisions. Griz remain mediocre.

If you are right about Stitt, give him a chance to prove you are right, than you can say I told you so.

Don't denigrate the guy about his creditials because they are not up to your standards, for what we pay our HC this guy may be the guy/

1. I am stoked Stitt's hire is official. It is nice to dispute what Stitt will or won't do. Good to see the majority of EGRIZ is supportive of Stitt's hire. At the very least, open minded to his hiring.

2. I am excited to see what the offense will be like with Stitt. In my opinion, at worse his offense will be an upgrade over the Delaney regime. I just pray Stitt puts high expectations on Gregorak's Defense.

3. JCU, I respect your opinion. However, keep the name calling and bashing of Stitt out of it. Do any of us know this guy personally or professionally? Your logic is kind of contradicting. One of your legitimate concerns is that Stitt is not proven to justify this hire. Your are right in that concern. However, one of the men you are supporting (which I support too), Hauck was also never a head coach at any level before being hired. Actually, legitimate arguments can be made Hauck was far less qualified and worthy of being named GRIZ Head Coach his 1st time around. Hauck's hat was hung on an impressive history of great special teams play as a special team's coach, and solid recruiter. Hauck was not even an offensive or defensive coordinator.

Based on the points you are making regarding Stitt, were the decision makers at that time not qualified or however you put it regarding Haslam? Here you are advocating Hauck year's after him being given his 1st shot. His hire turned out pretty damn well for the GRIZ, in most opinions. After Hauck's hire were you bashing him personally? Just think about your stand here, and compare how similar the hiring of Stitt is to the hiring of Hauck then?

Thankfully, Hauck proved his GRIZ critics wrong, then some. It is very possible Stitt will do that as well. Hell, I'd take Stitt's resume and coaching history at this stage over Hauck's at the stage he was at when he was hired.

Just give this hire time before giving Stitt evaluations. Welcome aboard Coach Stitt. Football season cannot get here soon enough for this fan.

he's one of us now, give him time and if he doesn't perform then we can do what we do so well; your friend, yogi
