Official Game Day Thread - Furman

Furman might actually have a better defense than NDSU this year. That Wofford game really messed with my perception of them and I don't think I'll be making that mistake again about the modern SoCon.

Furman was a hell of a quality opponent today and I hope the team takes this as a punch in the mouth to prepare for NDSU. That defense we saw tonight was mean and nasty and a hairs breadth short of being the Griz' equal.

They beat our OL all night. Rushing yards not including McDowell was 25 yards. Our D was stout, allowing 282 yards total offense, 34% passing completion percentage and our normal 94 yards rushing. And our normal bad penalties.

After the game, I saw Alex Gubner on the field talking to 77 of Furman ... and Alex looked small.

No necessarily. We will either get a 5:30 Friday game or a 2 Saturday game. I bet NCAA screws us again

The way Furman and our offence was playing I thought for shure that we had to win the toss up or lose. I figured if we went first we would stall out and have to kick the field goal. Then Furman would score and that would be the night. But was I pleasantly surprised buy or O finally get a drive together and scoring. It was the first time pretty much all night that I felt like the game was in hand and we could (and did) win.

We muted the tv and turned on the radio because the commentary was so bad in this game. Bad audio mixing and they clearly had a favorite team.

Like I said, the greatest thing about the playoffs is seeing teams you don’t see on a regular basis. A H/H would be awesome.

A home and home series with Furman would be sick. Griz got western Carolina next year. Gonna be a tough out. I think Furman just showed those better SOCON teams are legit.
