Offensive MVP - TraVon Van

Many would immediately say "JJ" when asked who is our offensive MVP, and not receive much argument. While JJ is our unquestioned team leader and offensive catalyst, I believe TraVon Van is our Most Valuable Player. His change of direction, make something out of nothing ability was a HUGE loss against Cal Poly, especially since our OLine did not block well against a smaller and quicker defensive front 7.Van also has the ability to split out wide and is probably our 2nd or 3rd best WR option. He can take a screen pass to the house, go deep on a wheel route or dust a LB or Safety for 70 yard TD's when split out wide. TraVon being on the field adds a multitude of looks to this offense and really opens it up for other players like Canada, Pierson and Ellis Henderson when he gets it going. It will be really interesting to see how this coaching staff tries to scheme offensively to make up for the absence of an irreplaceable player. Any ideas on how we can lessen the blow of Van's loss schematically?

Yes. Travon is immensely talented and has great speed. But Counts also brings some things to the table with his combination of strength, agility and decent speed. Especially with Counts, I think we can play better ball control against EWU than we could against Poly, so that's how we keep Vernon Adams off the field. We will also need to use the short passing game to sustain drives and keep our defense fresh. Our running backs catching passes out of the backfield will help with that. I like Counts' chances one-on-one against Eastern's d-backs.

I hope our line can blow open huge holes for counts, because if he gets to that second level he is a LOAD to bring down!

Yes, he is. Hope I start having Dan Moore flashbacks at some point Saturday.

While I love Van's game, there is absolutely zero doubt that the MVP on this team is JJ. Without him we'd probably be 3-3 right now.
