Offensive and Defensive Analyst?

I am very curious whom you are referring.

I was referring to Andy, but was under the impression he was caught up in Troy’s exit given his hiring and the timing of it all as well as bringing in a veteran interim HC. Especially since he didn’t have any history with the players. Didn’t realize Luck and Reich had kept him on through this period. Hope it works out for him. Have a hard time seeing him staying on staff with his history with TT.

I actually donate enough to be a QB club member, just haven't gotten around to it yet.
It is genuinely worth it. I had let mine lapse and need to re-up for this year, but the Monday night meetings are some of the most interesting x's and o's talk I ever see. Hauck puts a lot of effort into discussing what went right, what went wrong, and a very detailed look at the upcoming game. If you look extra pathetic on your first day there in person, Brint will let you sit with him at the cool kids table.

Colter reported on his show tonight that Kent Baer is returning to UM to be the D Analyst! Big time getting him back!
He would be my 1st choice of those mentioned on this site. I feel he is over his health issues and is itching to get back into the game. I don't feel money is an issue. He can re-define the "attitude" of our defense.
Great get if true.

One of my favorite articles over the years, largely for Houghton's great imagery, was a profile he did on the Griz defense under Baer. It had one of my all time favorite quotes in a sports article -- "If Baer had an avatar, though, it would be the war boy strapped to the front of a truck with a flaming guitar in Mad Max. He’s the overseer of chaos, the inciter of madness, his vision of delirium writ large on the field before him."

Love this article and if Kent can help get the defense to delirium, this defense will be top 5 in the country. I was thinking the defense would benefit from an Amoeba style defensive structure, which is exactly like what is being described in the Skyline Sports article.

We should be super-excited for this year with how Kent Baer's skills and traits fit really well into the Griz's current defensive situation. (Font in red are the ones I think are most important for this year).

Skills:
  • Simplicity breeds aggression: Baer believes that overly complex defenses inhibit instinctive play. By streamlining playbooks and rules, defenders can react rather than overthink.
  • Proactive over reactive: His defenses are structured around down-and-distance, not just offensive personnel. This allows the defense to dictate terms rather than respond passively.
  • Stop the run first: Baer consistently emphasizes physicality at the line of scrimmage, often committing extra defenders to the box to shut down rushing attacks.
  • Contain big plays: He prioritizes zone coverage and disciplined secondary play to prevent explosive gains.
  • Sideline precision: Known for calm, calculated in-game adjustments, Baer uses wrist charts and subtle hand signals to orchestrate coverage shifts without chaos.
Traits:
  • Multiple fronts with zone principles: While not exotic, his schemes often blend traditional fronts with zone coverage to balance pressure and containment.
  • Linebacker-centric: As a former LB and longtime LB coach, Baer builds his defenses around smart, physical linebacker play.
  • In-game adaptability: He’s praised for making crisp adjustments mid-game, often based on pre-snap reads and formation tendencies.
