O'Connell Cut -- Likely To Practice Squad

From the Field Gulls site -- "The Seahawks have informed ILB Patrick O'Connell that he's being waived. O'Connell is a UDFA from Montana and another obvious candidate for Seattle's practice squad."
 
Damn, I thought he'd stick on the active roster. I have to imagine he's a prime candidate for the practice squad, along with Ty Okada.
 
As a friend of O’Connell since Pre-school, this one hurts. Seahawks are making a big mistake waiving him. Former Bobcats S Ty Okada was waived as well. Just proves that there is no love for FCS players even with the more “local teams” in the NFL. OC should be on the roster. But any team anywhere will be happy to have him.

Okada has a chance to see the field. He doesn't suck.

I do think that in today's NFL, there are teams and schemes where OC could thrive as a pass rusher. I was actually pleasantly surprised to see how his athleticism graded out. There could be a role for him on a number of teams.
