OC Change Can Work Wonders

Idk that's what's bugging me
Is he even trying to win? Or, is he getting even with Bobby for some reason, has another gig lined up already...baffling. I hate baffling. Just another twist to this f'd up season. I think there will be lots of players hitting the Portal, and coaches moving on. Sad. Hope I'm wrong.

This is pretty good thread and discussion. Hopefully some others who seem to interject just to cause a problem will not participate.

Then WHY can't he adapt again for Fife, Ah Yat, and whomever else is at QB? Or RB, TE, WR?
I think Clif and his ability to operate a RPO offense fell more into Pease's wheelhouse. I fully believe that KAY's running ability is a big reason why they have tried to force the position and attempt to trend away from Fife.

Rough start
A year ago, fans of University of Montana football were screaming for
Cockhill's scalp and any other part of his anatomy after the Grizzlies lost
the season opener, 10-9 to Hofstra.

The rare loss at home was galling enough. But what sent the fans into
apoplexy was the usually high-powered UM offense managing a meager 10
points, well, well below it's average.

The fans wanted to blame anybody, somebody, and the new coaching staff felt
the wrath. The school's message board and the coach's voice mails were
overflowing with vile messages.

Much of the blame was laid on Cockhill, who was calling the offensive plays.

"Everybody has a right to the way they feel," said Cockhill of his reaction
to it all. "In the position we're in as coaches, we have to be able to
handle that or we shouldn't be here.

"Like anybody, they're a little spoiled. The coaches, the players, we're all
a little spoiled (by the program's past success).

"I wasn't mad at our fans. We've got the best fans in the nation. The
environment we have here every Saturday for games is second to none. My
opinion was nothing different from them. We were all frustrated."

The above was from 2001. The point is, fans will always bitch and complain when losing I don't think that will change. Doesn't matter who is the head coach, who is the O-Coordinator... just insert "NAME" when Griz are not (or any team for that matter) winning. Coaches, players, fans of the Griz, we all want to see the Griz do well. The Griz are not showing up trying to lose. I'll be at the game this weekend cheering on the players and coaches. Maybe the Griz get hot and go on a run, maybe they won't. But I will definitely enjoy seeing this team one more time in Missoula and I still think this team can be a tough out for the top teams in FCS. This season isn't over yet, and the Griz are still going... I am going to enjoy that fact for a little longer :)

' I am going to enjoy that fact for a little longer '

Emphasis on 'little.'
I hope I'm wrong, but it would take Divine Intervention to change the course at this point.
They don't have the players capable of putting it all together, and Bobby ain't no Joe Glenn.

Bergen 10 touches, Gilman 20 touches, Grossman 4 to 5 catches.

That really sounds realistic. Unfortunately with this offensive play calling it's not likely.

Players make plays not the OC.

We don't have a QB
We need WRs that hang onto the ball.
We need OL that have a violent streak in them.

None of that is on Pease. I told you what would happen if AhYat didn't play.
The Oline is also small. Stitt era Oline was mostly 6’7 and bigger the guys now are 6’5 or smaller.

1 Game in and Nebraska's offense has worked wonders, just by changing Dana Holgorson to OC.

He told the hbs to break more tackles and the WRs to block, then be rewarded.

Mission accomplished! Nebraska dominated WI in game 1 with the OC change.

Could Linehan make that kind of positive impact?
Those “wonders” resulted in 10 points vs my Hawkeyes who had the 4th string walk on QB, 20 yards & halftime, almost 3x the TOP & still a measly 10 points. HUCK THE FUSKERS

So you think tall equates to great? Cats don’t have one OL over 6’5 and they’re arguably the best OL in the country.

I mentioned in another thread but I like the idea of utilizing a similar offense to what Navy has been running this season, a Wing-T hybrid offense with option concepts.

We have great running backs and AhYat can run the ball very well, it would also help our O-Line as it seems we can't get the power blockers the Dakotas can get. Add in the Transfer Portal and NIL shenanigans I think an offense like this would be beneficial.

He knows what hes talking about. Pease is the best coach on staff, then Tim Hauck. Both guys have forgot more about football than the rest of the staff knows about it.
Best coach on staff my ass! He may know all there is to know about football but all you need to look at is his offensive production for the team he coaches. If you think this team has a great offense, then your opinion don’t mean jack. And one of the knocks on Tim this season is he tried to add some fine tuning to the defense similar to his time in the NFL and the defense had a very hard time understanding it. He had to dial some of it back and it has clearly helped. Now HE’S a great coach. He adapted and is using a defense with nobody that is terrific and making them a unit. Bobby and Pease could take some lessons.
