O Line Not Blocking Video

This is just a guess, but I wonder if the offensive linemen are frustrated that McDowell isn't starting/playing. The Griz offense has been way more effective with him in at QB.

I was thinking this, but with Kris Brown. He knows the system better than the other two. Anyone know if there were issues with Vidlak at BSU? Idaho State is watching this film and realizing maybe they have a chance. This is awful.

The problem with Vidlak at BSU and OSU was that he wasn't good enough just like he's not good enough here, not to start anyway. All this BS about being young is ridiculous. This is his 3rd year in college and he looks worse then a true freshman starting for NAU. He throws a nice ball and that's it. There's much more to being a good QB then throwing a nice ball. You have a veteran in McDowell who has experience and his play has the ability to change the game. But people think he's not that good or better than Vidlak because he doesn't throw the ball as pretty as Vidlak. 4 games, Vidlak has struggled on every one. And McDowell basically only played in 2 games and brought the offense back to win in 1 and helped the offense dominate in the other. Some moron said its not like putting in McDowell would make a difference because the o line is terrible. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Bringing McDowell in with a struggling o line will make a huge difference because now we have a QB that can escape the pressure the online is allowing and not just take a sack. And turn a sack that Vidlak would've taken to a 3 yard gain with McDowell in. Some guys can handle the pressure and some guys can't. Vidlak can't handle the pressure and just isn't good at all.

There is at least one on this board who has as said before his career at um vidlak will be a multi time all conference player.

The dumbest thing you've ever heard? F&^k dude. Find some work, and not in football analysis because clearly, you can't find your ass with both hands. You're only embarrassing yourself being here. And it's "than" not "then" you moron. Some guys can handle being a troll on a message board, and some can't. Which one do you suppose you are moron?

As concerning as the not blocking is, and believe me, its horrifying to see that much lack of effort, I think whats even worse is they all just walk by Vidlak and don't help him up or even look at him. Could be a sign of a broken locker room.

Great plan. When your OL is half-assing it, taking plays off, standing around while your QB is getting sacked, the best coaching move at that point is to put in a mobile QB so they can at least run around better when the OL isn't blocking. I like it, someone needs to tell Bobby. DOLA

The kid was sacked SEVEN TIMES against NAU. And was running for his life most of the game. And how many times did our vaunted D-line get to the NAU QB? Exactly ZERO. So yeah., the true freshman probably DID look better than Vidlak. Our defensive scheme DOES NOT WORK. Especially with 235 lb D-linemen and 210 lb LB’s trying to get to the QB against 300+lb offensive linemen who’ve actually been COACHED UP.

Does anyone know if this was discussed during the QB club meeting?

Also, would love to hear how that went if anyone is 'in the know.'

Oh wow. You really do feel for Vidlak.

I watched the game last night with the sound off & focused on the LOS. It may be a long season for Griz fans. One thing that stood out was the team's attitude and lack thereof on the sidelines, particularly towards Vidlak. He'd walk off the field and no one was communicating with him that I could see. Like no support, no encouragement, nothing, just left him alone. Granted it was short snippets but the rest of the team was not engaged at all from what I saw. Lowwwww energy. That's not Griz football.

Here's what I'm curious about.

There are a great many Griz fans who are completely fed up with and done with their current coaching staff, or at least the offensive side of it. I have seen many posters say that they want the whole group fired.

So if these OL who were frustrated and gave up said that they were sick of playing their tails off for inept coaches who can't put a gameplan together what would you say? Aren't you and the players on the same page at that point?

doesn't mean you give up on your team mates. no excuse for that

This really is top notch trolling. Impressive.

I agree with you. But if one of these guys looked you in the eye and said that they are fed up with this staff just like you (or some other fan), what would you say?

I'd say, don't let the staff be your motivator, play hard for your team mates, for griz nation, and for your own self respect. there are 10's of thousands of griz fans who are watching and hanging on every play that are counting on you

Seriously? I too am curious about something. Are you a children's book author? Because your plots seem to rely way too heavily on magical thinking. Point of clarification here for our less sophisticated posters. Subtle trolling, no matter how empathetic and well-meaning it may sound, is still trolling.

Mayginnes in the past would be the 1st lineman in the end zone celebrating a touchdown. What he did in Flagstaff was a full quit

What do you even think my goal would be? Like I'm looking for some big "gotchya" moment?

So what has happened between then and now to break his "give a shitter"

** I'm not trying to be a smart ass, just trying to figure out what has happened.

Mayginnes should be let go immediately and move Liam or Journey into the LG position. Makes me want to puke.

Grimswald also.

Those two disrespected the MONTANA uniform they have the fortune to wear.
