Now will you STFU about cold and loud?

I'll admit I got swept up a bit in the cold weather stuff, reminiscing about prior playoffs when teams from warmer climates have folded, although gotta say I drew the line at going to opponents message boards and talking about it. It seemed to make us look a little hipocritic bragging about the cold and then fall short by about 8000 fans of filing our stadium. The cold wasn't as bad as it was advertised. The wind was pretty bad about 10 when we got to the tailgates but seemed to calm down by the first. In the NEZ we had the sun shining on us the whole game which helped. Congrats to Coastal on a good win and staying focused despite the cold.

The only thing I thought the cold would do to CC was give the Griz a couple drops that CC receivers might normally catch, and give the Griz one or two fumbles. Didn't happen. I think CC had one true drop all day, and Alex's fumble had nothing to do with being cold. However, if you don't think cold weather games HAVE affected visiting teams in the past, you either only started watching the Griz two years ago, or you're a moron. The two WORST moments in S.F. Austin history both came in very cold games in Missoula. 1995 and 2009. In those two games, obviously seperated by 14 years, the Lumberjacks turned the ball over 17 times!!!

I didn't think CC was going to play poorly because of the cold, but I thought if the Griz got up by a couple of scores, the Chants might FOLD because of the cold. But we never got to see if that would have been the case.

As for loud, all of you who say Griz' fans shouldn't brag about how loud we are, WIN or LOSE, you all can go f--k yourself. Just because the crowd noise doesn't affect every team the Griz face doesn't mean Wash-Griz isn't loud or it isn't one of the single toughest places to play in America, because BOTH those statements are true, and as a someone who has been blowing out my lungs in that stadium for over 20 years, I'm damn proud of it and will brag about it until I die.

Embarrassing. We could have won this game had it not been for two or three mental mistakes and players out of position (and a horrid official call where Canada almost scored).

Another season pissed down the drain despite some great comeback moments and excellent play at times this season.

Please, let the game play do the talking and STFU about the 'cold and loud' (especially on opposing teams message boards lol). Even the homefield advantage of WaGriz doesn't seem to matter as much these days. Times and things change. Solid football for 4 quarters is the answer to winning football games.

Don't be a dumbass. It wasn't cold, and it wasn't that loud--because so many wimpy UM fans didn't show up. It was a very nice day for football. Not too cold. Sunny. Not windy.

I was impressed with Coastal.

Every player had warm gear on.

Every player had coats on the sideline and used them.

None of their players tried to act like they were too tough for the cold like do many other southern teams we've seen.

Their coach deserves a lot of credit for preparing them.

I noticed a couple of times that when a player came off the field, there was another player with a coat waiting for him. Very systemized, very disciplined, and disciplined teams tend to win a lot of ball games. It almost looked like we were more affected by the cold.

I noticed the same thing, I had a feeling this might happen, very well coached, disciplined, and a very smart heady quarterback. They were very well prepared, at the end of the game a few times their return man, quarterback and running back went down early to avoid a fumble, just trying to run out the clock. Good coaching, great execution.

Calling him a dumbass for stating a fact... wtf?? His post said nothing about today's conditions. He simply said it was overkill for the plethora of Griz posts on opposing teams message boards almost as a kind of annoying scare tactic touting the 'cold and loud' over and over again. It came back and slapped us in the face (even though it wasn't as cold as expected and wasn't nearly as loud as usual due to having 8000 empty seats.)

Of course we are all damn proud of our noise, support, and tough weather conditions. All of us screaming fans sounded pretty good at times today despite the low fan turnout. However, Coastal Carolina systematically showed poise, polish, and excellent preparedness; and they didn't seem much affected by the chilly weather or moderate crowd noise.... as good teams find a way to persevere and play winning football regardless of the obstacles presented both on and off the field of play.

Why would you consider Griz fans bragging to CC fans about the cold and noise a "scare tactic"? Why would CC FANS be scared? They didn't have to play today. I never saw ONE poster on here bragging or trying to scare a Coastal Carolina player this week. Some people need to go back to basics and find the line between fans and teams. So many times on Egriz, posters seem to get the two way mixed up. THIS IS A FAN BOARD. It doesn't have S--T to do with what goes on on the field.

Griz fans are fairly knowledgeable, but alot of egriz posters are total idiots.

havgrizfan, no disrespect because this is probably the only post you've ever made that I disagree with. yes, Wa-Griz is more than likely the tops in FCS for crowd support. i think what others are saying is - just know that and take satisfaction in it without rubbing it in other's faces, especially before the game has been played.

for perspective, what reaction would you have if a Griz player spoke at the weekly press conference about how awesome he's been playing this year, leading the league in pass efficiency or whatever, and that this week's opponent is in for a storm of sh!t because of it.

Could you please put your post in English, so we could understand what you're saying.

Good question, actually Alex Bienemann talked at length this week about how good Montana's front seven are, about who he and Tonga were excited to face a running back that comes right at them because that's what he and Tonga were made for. He was prognosticating and more than once, Taliaferro pounded it right through both of them today. Do I think Alex shouldn't have talked about stopping CC's run on Tuesday? NOPE. It's football, he's a football player, he should be confident in his abilities.

Like I said earlier, the day Griz' fans STOP being proud of and bragging about how loud and intimidating Wash-Griz can be is the day Wash-Griz probably stops being loud and intimidating. I don't think anything backfired on Griz' fans today. The fans that were in that stadium gave it their all like they always do in the playoffs, just like the team did, and I was damn proud to be there. I look at it completely different. I'm not ashamed at all of the fans' bravado about the noise because the fans backed up that bravado today. However, Coastal Carolina, especially their QB and head coach, deserve all the credit for HANDLING, our fans and our stadium today. It isn't the first time a QB has handled Wash-Griz, won't be the last, and yet, it changes NOTHING as far as it relates to how I feel about that stadium, its fans and the home field advantage it is.

Well, I guess I am just old school. Score a TD and hand the ball to the ref.

Shout and yell and cause the false start, take the five yards and smile.

Is that English enough for you?

That's as English as it gets. Obviously you have never spoken the language.

Why being a prick to this poster? Making as much sense as most, but he can spell

Its obvious this years Griz team thought the weather would win the game for them. THEY bought into it more than the southern boys.

Asking a poster to explain his post is not being a prick. Why don't you explain the post, if you are so smart.

I was at that Lumberjack game in 2009. It wasn't that cold. I would give more credit to Chris Lynn and a bunch of other Griz fans for getting half the Lumberjack team shit housed at Reds Thursday night before the game. Now the week after against ASU? That shit was cold. Sure was happy to be in a Griz boosters sky box for that game. The crowd was off the hook at the ASU game. It helped the Griz.

Good post though I'd say other than the one long run we contained their RB well enough to win.

Another QB inflicted running damage at key points in the game (we've seen that before this year). Let's not forget getting behind by multiple scores again. Coastal deserves credit for coming into a hostile enviornment and prevailing, unlke most warm weather teams before them. That said it doesn 't change history and we will win most of these contests, we just didn't happen to get this W.
