jared allen is by far the best athlete to come out of the b.s.c., but these jokers have him 8th!!
5 time pro bowl, 4 time all pro, won buck, led n.f.l. in sacks twice, n.f.c. def p.o.y. no one on their list is remotely close. another sham is roos at #22. three time all pro and second round pick.

wow

Maybe they penalize him for being a drop down? 8-)
Jared Allen wasn't a drop down.

If DD is number 1, that pretty much invalidates the list. It may make some Griz fans happy but as good as he was, I'm not even certain he belongs in the top 50 all time BSC list when you consider all the possibilities

This list is "All-Time Big Sky Athletes"...not "All-Time Pro Athletes Who Happened to Come Out of the BSC".

When DD graduated, he had about 15 all-time Big-Sky records, as well as 4 I-AA all-time records. He was the Big Sky offensive player of the year three times. In his senior year, he led his team to a national title, and was named the offensive player of the year in I-AA. That year, he led the nation in total offense...by over 1,000 yards! That year, he passed for a mere 1,500 yards...in the playoffs alone.

And all of that was done in a average of about 2.5 quarters of play per game his senior year (I know, I went back through the drive charts of the 1995 games to verify it).

And he doesn't deserve to be in the top 50?

Wow. Just wow.
if its just big sky, then wtf is jan stenerud doing at 4? he only made about 10 field goals at m.s.u.

"As a senior, Stenerud nailed 11 field goals, breaking the NCAA record for kicking points in a season (82) and MSU's record for career field goals (18). Following the season, Stenerud was the only small-school player named to The Sporting News All-America Team"

" He scored 1,699 points in the NFL, was named All-Pro seven times, earned six Pro Bowl nods (a figure which includes two AFL all-star games), and was named MVP of the 1970 Pro Bowl.

Stenerud was the first full-time placekicker inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1991"

His 59 yarder in college was the longest kick, college or NFL, at the time.

If it was only 10 it was 9 more than anyone else was doing at the time. I was there when he kicked a 59 yarder in the Griz cat game as a Jr. (A college record that stood for years) I'm not sure they ever found the kick off. Granted the wind was blowing but it went over the bleachers. He was one of the first if not the the first dedicated kicker in pros. Some of these guys changed the game.

Name one other player in Big Sky history, in any sport, to have DD's level of dominant conference and national stats (both seasonal and career), conference and national awards (both seasonal and career), and a national title.

We'll wait.

Doesn't matter that he was 5'11" and 180 lbs. dripping wet and not particularly fast. He got it done better in the Big Sky Conference than anyone before or since. Period.

I'll go one further. If he isn't in the College Football Hall of Fame when he becomes eligible, it's a crock.....

John Friesz beat him in EVERY category and already is in the College football hall of fame. Nobody is taking anything away from DD. He just wasn't the best BSC athlete. Maybe when you are around a while, you'll realize how many great athletes the BSC has produced. Therer was life before 1995, and a lot has happened since.

Caleb Schreibeis and Kroy Biermann are on the list...and TNT thinks that DD will be left off the list? Theres only one spot left for him to land.

What in the hell are you talking about?
Friesz: Lower completion percentage, less passing yards and TDs, no national title, far fewer Big Sky records and national records.

The only ways he matches DD is in three Big Sky offensive player of the year awards and the Payton.

In every other way DD was better.

Next?

I'm beginning to think you like to argue for argument's sake.

Even Sports Illustrated has him as the 12th best out of Montana (most popular however) Some of you guys are just too easy.

Nice edit, schmuck.

A preemptive congrats to DD, and a hearty "Go away!" to trolls like tnt.

At least my reiteration of DD's accomplishments is a nice trip down memory lane, even if it was an ill-conceived response to a serial troll. ;)

Pardon me if I'm wrong but to my knowledge DD is the ONLY BSC athlete to be named MVP of a professional league! That has to count for something.

Wow. I never realized that. We've had a couple Defensive Player of the Years(Doug Betters and the previously mentioned Allen although Betters got drafted out of Nev-Reno after spending his 1st three years at Montana). That's pretty amazing.

Better Check on Jarred Allen A five-time Pro Bowl and four-time All-Pro selection and Michael Ray Richardson as Net was MVP of the Eastern the 19830Eastern Conference all-star team that allegedly froze out Michael Jordon.

DD was great not the best. It pulls the whole list into question.

And what qualifies you to decide who is or is not the best. You calling John Friesz the best puts your credibility into question. You should let it go because you are obviously stuck in the mindset that the best big sky athlete must have made it to a solid professional career rather than what they accomplished during their college career. How many national titles does your best Friesz have...

And one thing that will never be put into question is your agenda on here.
