And digger, you do realize that Skyline is not the only media reporting Hauck as a done deal.

Shaun Rainey who shared the 8 unnamed sources and had his own is the other. AD said no, 135 sources would be wrong. It's not over until it's over, I haven't heard any fat ladies singing this morning. Still irresponsible journalism just out of desperation to get the scoop.

Rachac has pretty much reported the same but took a different approach. There is nothing irresponsible with the journalism.

This is really what I was thinking. This is all planned, and played well by all involved. I think this "leak" really forces the hand of the BOR. Nothing wrong with this play imo.

Only problem with this idea is Kent is pissed about the leak.

But is he really? Or is he just playing the game? I think he's more pissed that his hand was forced. I'd rather it either not be hauck or at least they look other places for qualified candidates, but this has booster power written all over it. I guess he could be pissed that the same boosters are the ones leaking it. I can see that.

Yes, in private, very much so
There are opinions that it was leaked early intentionally to stem the vultures picking at our recruits.

KULR said this about their sources: "Multiple sources close to the Grizzly Athletics Department say former head coach Bobby Hauck has been offered the head coaching position at the University of Montana but paperwork has yet to be filed."

Note that their "multiple" sources were "close" to the "Athletic Department". Their information came from Haslam's people. Not Christian, I wouldn't think, altho he would be a great source. Not people associated with Hauck.

I don't know how you can complain about 8 sources, if it not named. I know one of the sources and I guarantee you he knows what's going on.

Much better way to reword it IMO.....that doesn't say who, but it clarifies a lot more.

Question: What did we learn today? (Apologies to Dan Patrick)

Answer: It's not over until the fat BOR sings!

Also, not surprisingly, many egrizzers don't understand how breaking news or journalism actually works. Haha

Kyle just tweeted it is the Commissioner of Higher Education and not the BOR that must approve.

Replying to @kyle_sample
Clayton Christian, the commissioner of higher education, was involved in Montana's interview process and is expected to approve the contract. Sources have told us the feeling with Hauck and the administration was the Hauck interviewed very well

What a dam shi1 show! Just make it “official” already.
Listened to Beavs announcement of J Smith today. OSU AD was asked what was one of the more difficult parts of the process and he indicated false “official” information by media. He said it makes more work for th dept because false “official “ gets put out and makes the Athletics dept have to scramble to inform candidates no the info is not true. Because if the don’t those candidates think okay not me and th y maybe pursue different options!

I surely could see how that happens.
