Good pint about protest and free speech being protected by the constitution - but then again, freedom of religious worship is equally protected by the constitution and yet restrictions (bans) were placed on that and this restrictions were deemed constitutional by the Supreme Court because the restrictions were consistent with how restrictions on other events were enforced.grizfnz said:SoldierGriz said:Truth is these mandates are not enforceable. They should have kept playing.
Did the health department shut down protests?
Protests - covered under the constitution, sporting events not so much (at least in my interpretation).
While some may believe mandates are not “enforceable” it appears the tournament organizers were informed by MCPH that they did not meet the Phase 2 guidelines and were likely advised to contact their attorneys and insurance providers to see if they would have any liability issues for failing to comply with said mandate.
Seems the only thing that makes the restrictions legal is if they are enforced equally and consistently, and the Allowing (encouraging) protest without restrictions while maintaining restrictions on other activities, including constitutionally protected activities seems problematic.
