Leaving Wed for Iowa, however really looking forward to Egriz after the N.Iowa game...

After the review of what has been posted after the SFU, it appears that many have not sober up yet and made the way with opinions and excuses.

By 12:30am I had an eloquently written angry drunk rant that was a full word doc. Decided that I wouldn't post it yet and leave it for the morning. After evaluating what I had written, I'm pretty disappointed in myself for being so fowl. Although I feel like a lot of eGriz posters do about last night, name calling and pointing fingers isn't going to help anything. I hope the players that do check these forums are refraining from doing so because its pretty fucking appalling to see your "loyal fan base" berating you for doing something that most of them couldn't do.

Admirable restraint. There's a lot of posters who would do well to get a "second opinion" before they hit the "Submit" button. I keep a "scratch" word processing file where I type up my longer posts first. If I think it falls into the "rant" category ... my wife provides the necessary second opinion. [Since this might be considered a "semi-rant," I did ask her opinon. :) ]

I was at the GRIZ game Saturday night and while I would agree there are things to work on, am proud to be a Grizzly and love my team. There, said!

Honestly, I believe sfu was an underrated team. They did a lot of good work, but the small mistakes by the young Griz team created a questionable performance. Especially with a Sr. QB playing like he did at NSDU, this will be a long year. Playing like sfu, heart to win, will make this year awesome. Go Griz.

Being an avid Grizzly and Alum. I honestly don't think I've been that livid over a W in my 23 years of attending games. I was ready to break out the pitch fork. Glad I actually stopped and thought about it. Curse whoever brought the whiskey last night. A lot of posters should take second opinions before posting because some of the shit I see is just plain ignorant.

Second half of the SFU game is promising.

Yes, and UNI has beaten Iowa State 3 of the last 6 GAMES played (50%).
UNI has beaten Iowa State a total of 6 times, and tied 3 times.
(Note: UNI has NEVER beaten Montana in the 5 games they've played.)

Some Insights
Iowa State has a new football coach this year.
Iowa State imploded: 3 turnovers in the last 6:12 minutes.
UNI scored TDs after an Iowa State safety, fumble, and interception.

Bad Offensive Line
ISU has a seriously bad offensive line, which has been bad at ISU for a long time.
Only one OL starter from last year returned for 2016.
One OL starter this year was suspended for this game.
2015 OL: 126th in sacks allowed (42!); only one team worse (UTSA at 44)

Bad Defense
2015: 107th in total defense
2015: 111th in pass defense
2015: 111th in pass efficiency defense

No matter how you want to slant it, this game is a solid win against an FBS team. Montana has always seem to have UNI's number no matter how high they were ranked. However most those games were in WaGriz. UNI spanked PSU in Portland last year and return pretty much all their key players.
I hope the Griz can surpise me and win this game on the road but I am a realist. I put it in the L column when I first saw the schedule. I think UNI will challenge NDSU for the title this year.

Hoping for better, but that's pretty much how I stacked it up when I tried to project how the Griz season might go this year. But then, last year my "casual" projection assumed the Griz would start out with a loss versus NDSU -- based on new coach, new system, etc. Still had a winning season "planned," but was not sure about a playoff bid. So let's just hope UM still has UNI's number and can pull off the win on the road. A loss won't be a catastrophe, but it sure won't help.

Agreed. I didn't think we could beat NDSU either but again-WaGriz. And, to be clear, the UNI game was the only L on my schedule for this year. Although, after yesterday's Cal Poly and EWU results I may have been a bit optimistic.

While the UNI game is important, it pales in comparison to the next game at Cal-Poly. I think the Cal-Poly game is the make or break game for our season this year. They've had our number lately and their option offense has really given us fits.
We win down there and we could really get on a nice roll heading into the middle of our schedule. We lose and it could send us into a downward spiral that it will be hard to recover from. It would be great to get by UNI and have a bye week to ready ourselves for CP. Either way, we really, really need to win that CP game.
