"Im not moving because someone doesnt like old farts...."

Certainly didn't mean to imply I don't like old farts. I'm no spring chicken but no complaints. You get older or you die, that's your two options.

I don't have the lungs I used to, that's all.
you gotta learn when to yell and when to wheez and gasp :thumb:

I LOLed. I think I'm still plenty loud....but then old farts usually do.

I hate sitting in the north end zone, too many old people trying to act like teenagers and scolding people who will not cheer like them. It is pure poppycock when you are treated like that, it is my money and I prefer to just watch the game instead of screaming like an ape.

There's a place for fans like you. It's called a living room! :thumb:

I would think an Eastern Montana farmer like you would be a bit more animated in the stands.

Its the North End zone Wackos and its nothing like it used to be. This coming from a guy who has had seats in 130 for 15 years.
Look out Hammer. I think the whippersnappers aim to chloroform us for the seats!

Make a ton of money and sit in a box, where you can hear a pin drop.

Five years ago I cleaned up the NEZ after the game and I knew then that it was going downhill, I found chardonnay bottles !

Don't know to spell that stuff.

Had my first NEZ experience last year against APP state and could barely hear myself think half the time (my thoughts are not that important anyway). There was no NEZ when I was a UM student so it was new to me. I read these posts that say it ain't what it used to be, maybe so, but some of that might be memories of the good old days often make us think it was better way back when. I will not be in the NEZ for South Dakota (found a single seat to the 50) but will be there for Homecoming, bringing a friend down for her first WGS experience. Can't wait to feel the energy rolling in the NEZ! GO GRIZ!

one tip for you SaskGriz, when you are in the NEZ during the TV timeouts keep your eyes on the west sideline, usually between the 15 and 20. There will be a techie that is wired into the tv truck outside the stadium. One of the refs will be 5 yards off him watching. Tech dude will roll his arm signalling the break will be over in 10 seconds or so. The ref then signals the other refs to resume play. As soon as tech dude rolls his arm thats when its time to let it rip. :thumb:
its all in the timing, thats how us old farts in the NEZ roll

I think the NEZ is alive and well.

I sit near the 50 and I love it when the NEZ comes alive and screams.

One almost feels sorry for the player that jumps, farts and burps.

Keep up the screaming. Ya old farts and geezers along with some youn guns make us all proud!

Two consecutive false starts last week for Central Washington when they were pinned deep into the NEZ... proof that they still got it.

It's still plenty loud when it needs to be and I've been at about every game in the stadium. Sat in the NEZ a few times for Griz/Cat when it was grass. Time moves on and "the good old days" always seem better than the present. Big games, big downs, 4th quarters, playoffs generate more noise than 3rd downs in the Central Washington game when we're up 20+ and it's 90 degrees in the stadium.
I went to WY game and even with a pretty light UM crowd stuck in one corner was impressed at the noise a Griz crowd can put out. WY blocked our punt and recovered it right in front of our little section. All in the section were up and as loud as they could be and think the WY interception that followed was caused in part by the crowd noise. WY cheerleaders spent that 2nd quarter in front of the Griz section (weird!) and I watched them continually look up at us over their shoulders. You could tell they were wondering "Who are these guys and how are they this loud?" I'll also never forget the safety we got against Marshall in the 1995 title game. Marshall starts backed up in front of the Griz crowd and seemed truly baffled by the crowd noise we put out. KPAX had a promotion to take milk cartons with a few rocks in them to that game. Mine was looked at as I walked in but not taken and plenty more made it in. A few rocks in a milk carton puts out alot of noise.
Keep up the good work NEZ.

I was there and can say it wasn't even that loud when that happened.

This tread has turned out to be pretty funny. I assume Big G was just joking with his comment.

I agree. Actually during one of the lightning delays when I was walking around to the other side of the stadium, I was quite surprised at how small the Griz footprint was in the stands, because I would have sworn we had 2 or 3 more sections based on how loud it was.

And yes, WTF with the Wyo cheerleaders in front of us for an entire quarter. That was just bizaro. It was also a little strange that UM's cheer squad wasn't there at all.

It's true, there are some lame fans that just cannot seem to stand too much noise or fans standing during the game. I noticed NEZ was getting bad a few years ago, but that was mostly cranky seniors down near the endzone on the east side and where my season tix are back in the nose bleeds the fans are a little more crazy to my liking.

I am bringing my A game to the NEZ this weekend so grumpy old people you've been warned...
