Halfway through the predictions, and today we're on to Northern Colorado. UNC is coming off a historically bad 0-11 season last year. I cannot fathom that they will go 0-12 this year. They gotta get at least 1 win right? Let's dive in!

August 31 @ Incarnate Word - L. UIW will be one of the most interesting teams in the country this year. They got left out of the playoffs at 8-2 last year cause they failed to win the Southland and their strength of schedule was really weak. This year, they're non-conference schedule is 2 Big Sky teams at home (UNC, NAU) and 2 Valley teams on the road (SDSU, SIU). Despite all that, this will be their easiest non-conference game. Cards win easily.

September 7 @ Colorado State - L. It feels like this is a make or break year for Jay Norvell and the Rams. They gotta make a bowl game this year or there might be some tough questions to answer in the offseason. They're gonna have no problem with UNC though.

September 14 vs. Abilene Christian - W. UNC lost this game last year on the road. I really don't know much about ACU, so I'm gonna give UNC the benefit of the doubt at home. It'll be close, but I'll say they pull it out.

September 21 @ Stephen F. Austin - L. The Jacks should be good enough to beat UNC at home.

September 28 vs. Cal Poly - W. This is UNC's only chance at a conference win, and I'll say they get it. Huge game for both teams, but tie goes to the home team.

October 5 @ Montana State - L. Here's where things start to get ugly. This game will be over in the second quarter.

October 12 @ Weber State - L. Another long day for da Bears lol.

October 26 vs. Montana - L. The last 2 times UNC has faced us, they've gotten shut out. Do they get some points on the board this time? I'm gonna say it's 50-50.

November 2 @ UC Davis - L. Man this is a brutal 4 game stretch. God's speed UNC.

November 9 vs. Eastern Washington - L. I just don't see Eastern being bad enough this year to lose this game. They won't be good, but they better not be this bad.

November 16 vs. Northern Arizona - L. Shouldn't be an issue for NAU I would think.

November 23 @ Portland State - L. I actually think UNC might have a shot in this game, and you'll see why next week, but I still think they lose. It will be close though.

I got Northern Colorado going 2-10. Perhaps that's me giving them the benefit of the doubt, but they have to get a win this year or that will be an all time embarrassment. That's my prediction. Thoughts????

New coach with little to work with last year. He is a good coach, I expect them to be a bit improved this year. I'll go with 3-9.

N. Colorado made a huge mistake firing Ed McCaffrey as their HC. He went 6-16 in 2 seasons which isn't very good. But when you're trying to build a winning program, it's always rough the first few seasons. If they stuck with him they probably would've been one of the tougher teams by this year or next year. So they fire him and have probably the worst season in history last year winning no games. Hopefully they can win 1 or 2 games but that would be a stretch.

They fired him because he wasn't doing his job. He was trying to commute from Denver and he was constantly cancelling workouts and practice and wasn't running the program like a D1 Football program. Not to mention the reports of the culture in the locker room and the way his staff would act on game day (clip board gate). That's why he was fired

This article (albeit older) outlines all of those things you mentioned:
https://www.reporterherald.com/2022...fers-players-share-experiences-accusations-2/

Blurb from the article:
Trying to get a meeting was like trying to connect with a celebrity, the players said. They had to go through other staff members to schedule something that typically didn’t happen.

Coaches were infrequently in the office and most lived in the Denver area, instead of Greeley. The players said they could tell which athletes and situations they valued, depending on if the coaches would actually commute to campus.

They relied heavily on digital communication, but those forms were just as inconsistent.

Thomas estimated his position coach told him six times McCaffrey would call. It never happened. He said some coaches for his group acknowledged him until he was stripped of his game-day duties.

“When you’re starting and you’re doing well for them, I think they do respect that and communicate with you a little bit,” Thomas said. “But once you’re not benefiting them. It’s kind of like, ‘Who are you?’”

Sam provided the Tribune with screenshots of messages sent to McCaffrey’s UNC-provided cellphone, McCaffrey’s personal cellphone and his position coach that went unanswered.

He might be the worst coach the Big Sky has seen in decades. He set them back years. He was absolutely not cut out to be a D1 football coach. Firing him was the best thing they've done in a long time, but unfortunately giving him the job in first place was one of the worst things an FCS team has ever done.

Wow, I had no idea what happened over there as I wasn't following the ins and outs of N. Colorado at that time. That's really unfortunate. But if there's one thing I learned in life is that there are always 2 sides to the story. This article only paints the picture of one side. Either way, they still are going to have a hard time winning 1 or 2 games this year. But thanks for the article although I can't read it unless I pay for a subscription. Haha

You shouldn't have to. If there is a thing that pops up (that I'm vaguely remembering), there is a small "no thanks, continue" text/link in the bottom, left hand corner.

For sure the article only paints one side, but I think that article came out shortly after he was already fired.

Sometimes one side of the story is the truth.

ACU will crush UNC, that game won't even be close. The only shot UNC has at winning a game this year will possibly be PSU maaaybe EWU. That being said, I believe UNC is an O'fer this year. I'd bet lunch on it.

I'll predict 3-4 wins this year. Coach McCaffrey left us for dead, so it's a long road ahead. I think the Bears beat EWU, Cal Poly, and ACU.

Y'all ain't beating EWU.... Get real. Cal poly is really the only possible chance at a win and that's doubtful. 97% chance that UNC gets 0 wins.
