I personally think North Dakota State would have been a great fit for the Big Sky. Football plays in the Fargodome (20,000+ seating) and gets great support. I hate to bring up painful memories, but the Bison actually actually beat us a couple years ago at WaGriz, so they would definately compete. Basketball just went D1 and they will be getting some solid midwest recruits in the next few years. They surprisingly played the University of Minnesota pretty tough a few weeks ago. They would most likely need to upgrade their bball arena, but it is currently better than what Idaho State, Portland State, and Sac State are playing in. Fargo seems like a natural Big Sky town, roughly 100,000 people and NDSU is the only show in town, a lot like the Griz and other Big Sky teams. If you threw South Dakota State in the league as well, who just went D1 in bball/1-AA in football, you would have a natural travel partner. The one negative is that you are really stretching the geography of the league. I'm sure N. Arizona/Sac State would not be looking forward to that road trip. But outside of the location issue, it seems like a perfect fit. Thoughts?
