Travis walked away around the corner, cops yelled at him (at the time it was 2-3 guys vs travis and 2 guys punched him) Matt A (who is 6'6" 240 by the way) went after Beck who is 6 1 210 and Beck defended himself then Matt's buddy Mitch H jumped in and got a punch in)

so if this happens and you are walking around, you don't stop for someone yelling at you, you're scared of more people jumping in. he cooperated fully with police after and has spent 2 full days of his life in jail already, that's punishment enough.

Matt A was seen at ribfest concert drunk from 8pm-1am,then went downtown according to reports

Supposedly according to Phil Hansen (NDSU grad, Buffalo Bill great)

"Beck picked a fight with this guy earlier and got his ass kicked. He then came back and kicked this guys ass".

It's just another day in "As The World Turns." Is Ribfest anything like Brewfest? Damn German cousins.

So he should be good to go and be the NDSU poster child.....

Good God.

Proof positive that these threads are identical on every board and with every team, no matter whose uniform is being worn when something bad happens.

+1 Maybe we should rent PR out?

HA LIE phil Hansen knows as much about travis beck as he does winning super bowls

Pathetic but not unexpected that a UND troll would lie about this story. What should have happened happened today. Travis will have to deal with Coach Bohl and whatever Fargo PD decides to do on the resisiting or fleeing charge but some are saying that too will be dropped. Either way I hope he's learned a lesson along with all players on the team about not putting yourself into bad situations.

Charges dropped.

Why can't some people, including a bunch of Griz fans/posters, see/learn that initial news reports and charges often are wrong/misleading/overblown/overcharged? Once I saw your initial post were potentially good news for the kid, I smelled a rat. Bison, while you probably haven't noticed, my record on legal stuff like this, involving 12-15 matters over the years, is almost perfect. Of course, I usually don't say anything until I get some information or can see the likely over-charging. Great for the kid. By the way, I hope he only walked and didn't run from the incident, because if he ran and got caught, he's too slow to play football at this level. Ha-ha.

Good. Happy to see it.

Would be better, of course,if high profile players realized it wasn't worth drinking in places where bad things are bound to happen.

BisoNation was on radio this afternoon sticking up for Travis. His name is forever linked with this and the labeling will be forever. That's pathetic, he stood up to a stalking 6'6 260lb Matt aenenson and 2 of his buddies and Travis told the truth throughout. Fargo pd botched this. Let him play day 1

Lakesbison/BisoNation/ChrisCarter:

With supporters like you and bisonbacker, can NDSU continue to take PR hits?

Highest rated video in Fargo for the year (starring Travis Beck):

not that i give a rats ass about this situation but can anyone explain that video to me? i found it pretty interesting. is that standard to have a recording like that available on the internet? especially immediately after the incident? and if so is that the case in all states or is this something unique to north dakota? just curious.

With the main charge, a felony, being dropped so soon, and some tidbits posted in this thread, it looks like the kid really got screwed by the cop or cops on the scene and whomever charged him.

This is the argument for having all charges dropped: All charges should now be dropped immediately, because the cop/prosecutor goofed up by charging him, and definitely over-charging him with felony assault. Bad investigation and bad decision to charge. As for the other stuff, the kid walked around the corner. From the video, that appears to be the resisting arrest.

Again, the argument: the kid shouldn't be charged with walking off, i.e. resisting arrest, when the other guys were the aggressors, and the on-scene cop goofed up the early investigation by talking only to the other kids' friends. Resisting arrest (walking around the corner) after a false arrest and incorrect charge?

Hope the kid has a good attorney. They ought to back down the prosecution quickly. This is bogus. The already-dropped felony charge and press has done the kid life-long damage to his reputation, with the bad press that will be on the internet forever. The only way to start making this up to the kid is for all charges to be dropped quickly.

The kid was drunk and got into a fight. Suspend him for a game.

For being drunk, the kid is pretty articulate and comes across fairly well in the video. He's completely believable, I think, and wasn't acting like an asshole at all.

This type of rush to judgement and over-charging used to happen mainly to people of color. Now it seems to be happening to athletes, at least on occasion. Our society is getting out of control, in my opinion, with stuff like this. Jeez, law enforcement needs to do a good investigation and be careful with charges, and stop giving inflammatory stuff to the press; and the press needs to stop over-sensationalizing.

I was wondering the same thing.

I guess once the charges are dropped, maybe it becomes available?
