North Dakota State Bison Scouting Report

BWahlberg Quote "5. Contain NDSU’s rushing attack. NDSU on their current win streak has largely done it by steamrolling teams on the ground. I see many NDSU fans are already proclaiming the NDSU run game will set up a blow-out win for the Bison. For the Griz to keep this game in their favor they cannot let NDSU run all day long. A successful rushing game for NDSU will equate to a major advantage in TOP which means very limited opportunities for the Griz to keep pace."

I consider this the biggest obstacle standing in our way. KVA will be missed in that scenario. Lebsock is solid, and heady, but he is still not KVA whom I consider to be our best backer. He does not make mistakes. Their offensive line is huge, mobile and tough. A ground game scares me with that big line and our smaller defensive line. If we go 8 three and outs like last week, especially early, we are in trouble as they will wear us down. Combine that with a running quarterback it could be a long day. First down stops are imperative.

On the other hand if we do get out to a quick start and score on 2 or 3 early possessions and maybe force them to become a passing team we could be in good shape. I don't see them changing their game plan to go to a passing game unless they are behind 14 to 21 points late in the 3rd quarter or so.

Here is hoping for our best game of the year! Go Griz!

That's good that Smith is back, because Champion is terrible and the Griz absolutely abused him the last time out. But, even with Smith back, he can't cover all four of the Griz' primary receivers by himself. This week should be interesting hearing from NDSU fans who buried their own team after the first game, but noiw, all of a sudden, that same team is so good the Griz have zero shot, lol.

I think Jones and Henderson are very good and don't agree with your assessment of Champion. Is he as good as Smith? No! But terrible? No! Average or a little better? Yes. I think you have to give credit where credit is due and Jones and Henderson deserve credit. They have earned it and have proven they are really good. They have made a lot of cornerbacks look bad at times.

I love the fact that we aren't seeing hardly any of NDSU's trolls this time around. Seems that our win over them in August is keeping some of them quiet.

It will be a great measuring stick to see which program has improved more.

Only if the good Griz team shows up. If the team that played Portland St, Weber and Cal poly shows...17 pt loss for the Griz will be guaranteed for the Bison.

The Bison probably still have nightmares about what our receivers did in the first game. The wild card for us this time might just be a receiver that they did not really even see in the first game. (Horner) I sure hope we can spread it out and test the Bison all over the field to cover. If the O line can give Gus just enough time, I think we are going to be able to move the ball just as we have the past 3 weeks.
Go Griz!

Can the Griz stop the run? IF they can do that and get a couple early scores, that puts a ton of pressure on a freshman qb in his first playoff start...against Montana.

IF that plays out, I like the Griz to come out with a win.

In a nutshell, this is what the game will come down to....

NDSU having a big rushing day will allow them to dominate TOP thus forcing less opportunities for Brady and Company.
Stick, like the SDSU QB, could have difficulty executing because of inexperience.... It's an interesting match up for sure.

NDSU's stats are very good, but they played in a lesser conference. Gave up 242 passing yards to SDS.

What?!?!? A lesser conference?!?!? Look, I love all things University of Montana, but in no way is the big sky a "lesser conference" the the MVFC
