North Dakota Fighting Hawks scouting report

Specifically? I didn't watch the same, so really couldn't say. From a high level ... if you are up 21-17 against Central Washington ... there are some struggles. Shoot, if you give up 20 points to a bad Portland State team, you could say there are some struggles ... though those point mostly came late and the game was in hand from the first drive. Also giving up 221 yards on the ground to CWU would be a cause for concern. I'm hoping that is something UND can feast on, but I would expect the Grizz are preparing hard to stop the run this week.

I have to imagine UND is putting a little extra focus on Gillman as well. That dude is a stud! I believe it came down to Montana and UND during his recruitment and I was pretty bummed when we didn't land him.
Made the trip to the Alerus for last years game. Much love for Half Brothers Brewing but we need a different outcome this year!! Should be a good game.👍

It has been years since I've been back up to Grand Forks, but hope to make it sometime. I don't think Half Brothers was there in my day, but it sounds like the city and the campus have changed quite a bit!

If you make it back out ... Rhombus Guys Pizza was always solid, but The Parrot's Cay was always a personal favorite.

2 Deng Deng

  • Position:Wide Receiver
  • Height:6-5
  • Weight:225
  • Class:Redshirt Freshman
  • Hometown:Tokio, N.D.
  • Highschool:Four Winds
don't know what this guy's name really means (if anything), but in chinese 'deng deng' means 'wait, wait'. kinda amusing to me (and probably only me) that he is from a town called 'tokio', especially given how the chinese can't stand the japanese (and vice-versa).

Both of these teams are different than last year's teams. Lots of new players. The Griz were erratic in the first half against CWU, but I will say, CWU is not an average DII school, just like Ferris St was not. Both of those schools could easily compete in the FCS. If the Griz come out and play like they did in the second half-both offensively and defensively, it could be a tough day for UND. It's gonna be a tough game with lots of emotion, and there's a lot of talk how UND is better than last year. Well, after this game is over, I think there'll be more talk that Griz are too. Griz 42-24.
