GRIZ had one 3 ball and Kendal had 2 points for the game. Shit happens.
But that shit won’t happen again.

Shooting. According to the ESPN stats, the Griz slightly won the rebound battle, did well on steals and forced turnovers, and had a good assist total. They even scored more points on fields goals than the Bears. The Griz lost this game from the three-point line (made one versus five for UNC) and on foul shots made: 7 versus 18. Perhaps credit the UNC defense on the treys, but the foul-shot differential says the Griz can't defend without taking fouls ... the same story noted before. The number of fouls called was not that different: 18 against the Griz versus 14 against the Bears. But they got 26 foul shooting attempts versus 11 for the Griz.GrizLA said:VERY BAD NIGHTProud Griz Man said:Do you think this is a well-coached team that had a really bad night ?CleanHOUSE said:Getting our skulls caved in now....

DCH is going to have an outstanding career as a Grizzly. Manuel picked an awful night to go cold

VERY BAD NIGHT
Well coachedyeah, but i wouldnt really say bad night as much we just got stuff by thier Defense. Kind of like when you face a team that just over matches you OLine in football and causes everything to look weak and out of sink on offense. I think hitting some tough outside shots would have helped, but we just didnt have the game plan to overcome or neutralize how they were pushing on us

Not sure how many teams we would beat shooting like we did tonight.
Tough home loss.
Good news is, we can play better.
Go Griz!
this was one of those games where it appeared that no one wanted to shoot the ball.
Some of that too is the young guys learning when TDC is fine / trusting of them to take the open shot (even if early in the shot clock). One of the main things that TDC always hammers home is don't settle for a "good" shot when you can make a couple passes and get a "great" one. It takes guys a bit to learn that sometimes the initial open shot is a "great" shot (even if early in the shot clock). Right now, guys who shoot early tend to be Sayeed, Timmy and Kendal. My guess is as the young guys get more comfortable and gain more of TDC's trust - they'll be more confident pulling the trigger on those early shot clock "great" shots.EverettGriz said:this was one of those games where it appeared that no one wanted to shoot the ball.
Agreed, 24. The GRIZ were tight as the skin of a 75 year old actress after a face lift. It happens to young teams in big games, particularly when they are the ones squarely wearing the bullseye. Some of the best coaching I ever received was that in crunch time, you WANT the ball; you want to be THAT guy. But it takes time to learn and truly believe it.
Good news is, the GRIZ travel to Boise without having to pack the bullseye. Time for someone else to wear it for the first time in 3 years.

Of course, Manuel is not going to be held to two points in any game in Boise.
But credit Northern Colorado. And while they lose Radebaugh next year, they have a dy-no-mite recruiting class coming in--seven-foot center, power forward, wing, point. They'll be good next year too.

Agreed - even on a lot of the hustle plays, the ball didn't really bounce the Griz way until the last few minutes. By then, it was too late. Tough shooting night (I counted at least a dozen shots that were halfway down and popped back out), and untimely turnovers. Almost every time the Griz got the ball after forcing a turnover or came out with the ball out of a timeout, they turned the ball over. It was just brutal.
Credit to NoCo for going out and taking it. One thing that everyone seems to forget - NoCo's D has probably been the best D in the conference outside of the Griz the last few years. It is something that they don't really get a ton of credit for. Even when the Griz were moving the ball well, they were right on just about every single rotation.
On to the next. Hopefully they'll beat the Dunderbirds on senior night. It is all about perspective, right? If you told anyone that the Griz would have been in first place all year and right in the thick of it during the last week of the season for a 3rd Regular Season Conference Championship in a row, I'm willing to bet they'd take that. I think the last time a team won 3 in a row (regular season) was...Idaho in the early 80's?
Anyway, hopefully Dahlberg will be packed (I'm guessing general admission will be. It was last night) for senior night to send out Sayeed and Jared with a bang. I'm damn proud of this young team and damn proud of the coaching job TDC has done this year, as well as Sayeed's leadership. Let's kick some Dunderbird ass, then run through the conference tourney in Boise! Go Griz!
