Noah Scarver

Bummer, hate to see talented kids leave but it happens every year.

Noah might've seen the writing on the wall with Harper ahead of him and then Ralston and Sprunk in the same class. Tough to break through and be a 2-3 year starter in that mix.

Well is he getting a schollie from Minnesota? Because I believe Hayden Craig had to walk on at Oregon State after being a full-ride here....

So they would rather walk on at a FBS instead of a full ride at a FCS school.

They also moved or are moving much closer to home.
Yeah, I get that. Well, it'll be interesting to see if Craig is worked into the OSU offense this year...if not, other than being close to home it will have ended up being a huge waste of talent...same for Scarver. I hope for their sakes they get a chance to contribute.

AZ, because all happiness is predicated by football?

Quite the leap from "I hope for their sakes they get a chance to contribute."

I did not even see anywhere that Scarver was actually going to play football. I get tired of people throwing out the "waste of talent" or "I hope for their sake" type comments because he is leaving. Maybe the same could be said if he stayed at UM. The kid decided to leave for whatever reason. Why can't people just say "good luck" and "disappointed to see you go" and leave it at that?

Hmm. In trying to answer the question of why Scarver and other TEs have left the Griz, you said:

How about FBS and not FCS?

Did you mean FBS as in "Fuckin' Bachelor of Science" or something?

Surprised to see him leaving being that he already spent the first few weeks on campus here, wonder if he can even get into school for the spring semester in Minnesota.

General assumption that many kids would rather walk on at a FBS school than get a scholarship at a FCS school. As to why Scarver and other TEs have left, you would have to ask them. Maybe they miss a girl, or there mom's cooking, or the weather, or there hometown professional team....whatever it is, it apparently was not in Missoula.

Think the initial post meant he let the team know he would not be returning, but he will be at UM to finish the year.

AZ made the safe assumption that Scarver would continue to play football and hoped he got the chance to contribute. Now we all know we're not supposed to wish a football player well in his future football endeavors. Is it just for football? Can I hope that Tiger wins three more majors for his sake? I just want to know the Board rules on well-wishes so I don't fuck it up like AZ did. Thanks in advance.

Man, you get tired of shit a LOT. My humblest and deepest apologies for making a statement that apparently rankles you so...

"Good luck, Noah Scarver. Disappointed to see you go."

There. Did I do that right? Does this post get the official grizindabox seal of approval? Because I'm going to lie awake at night now, worrying that I might say something on this board that's going to make you "tired". :?

I think I'll leave it at that.

Yeah, I get that. Well, it'll be interesting to see if your post plays out...if not, other than being a waste of written word it will have ended up being a huge waste of your talent...same for CDA. I hope for your sakes you still get a chance to contribute.

Harper has been a bit of a surprise, I think. He's a stud, has great hands, runs good routes, but he does seem undersized. Maybe Scarver was thinking he'd leapfrog Harper on the depth chart after a year of development. I think there were eGrizzers who thought the bigger younger TEs would at some point.

Harper represents the more quick and athletic / pass catching TE as I see. Also the guy just returned to the team after being out of football for 2 years so I'd bet this year they'll work on his overall size, hopefully not at the cost of speed/quickness.

Wild guess on my side but the coaching staff did not expect as much out of Harper as they got. They brought in 3 new TE recruits last year and made it sound like 1 or 2 might play right away. In the meanwhile Pierson finds his groove and Harper suddenly connects with JJ in fall camp and the need drops out. Now Scarver is looking at the roster and seeing he's stuck for playing time with an RS Soph and two side by side RS Frosh TEs around him and he's decided to move on.

Harper, IMO, was one of the bigger "unknowns" that rose up. And the guy wasn't even that major of a factor but was a great RZ target. With a year under his belt and if he can improve strength and blocking he could be an incredible threat in the Big Sky. Jordy Johnson loves throwing to his TE's, we've seen that since his high school days with Curtis White and then Kavario Middleton in 2011 and then Peirson/Harper.
