No excuses, Griz just didn’t have it tonight but there will be games like this one just has to move on. My real concern 2 fold; one, have the other teams in the BSC finally figured out how to defend Syeed and will that impact the Griz going into the tournament? Secondly, our freshmen have disappeared in these last few games. Coming out of high school a 20 game season is a lot, much less 30+ games. Physical and mental fatigue could be a factor which doesn’t bode well for the remaking games. Last I checked the Bobcats were down 18 to SacState.
One thing to remember though at the start of the season I don’t think anyone on this board would have thought we’d be in the thick of the title race at this point. Hats off to Travis and staff for a job well done.
Tighten your belt straps men, we’re in for a ride.
 
Agreed. No excuses for the loss. Winning on the road is tough. Winning in Flagstaff doubly so.


That said, I’m not worried about this team. They’re still in the driver’s seat, and they’re the only team in the league with TDC.

We needed ANYBODY at the line. We missed the front end of two 1/1's, either of which would have essentially iced the game.

I have never seen the Griz play in such a slow down fashion...
Anyway, on to Sac State, leave the NAU performance behind and here we go.
 
Yep, but several reasons. Yes, Pridget had an off night. NAU is not the first team to game-plan to (mostly) shut him down, but they did make it work for awhile. Double-digits by Samuelson and Manual partly offset that. And, overall, the Griz shot pretty well, both treys and FGs.

But basically, I blame it on not enough defensive intensity and not taking care of the ball. Too many turnovers, not enough steals or forced turnovers, and lost on the boards.

Personally, in a weird way, I see a glimmer of light in this loss:
First, the Griz have already guaranteed themselves a first-round bye in the conference championship. Their specific seed does not concern me that much. Now, it would be nice if the Griz won the regular season championship so they guaranteed at least an NIT bid, but that's way down the priority list.
Second, over the years, we've seen that a long winning streak going into the conference tournament often sets a team up for an early loss. Not always, but often enough that I saw it as something to worry about. A three-game late winning streak from here on out provides momentum, not any particular pressure.

It wasn't Kyle that missed a free throw. It was Manual.
