Niners Screw the Pooch

Double XX Sports Radio in San Diego is reporting that the 40-Whiners have hired Mike Martz as their OC. I see tailspin coming....

One of my business partners is a Niners fan. The only one interviewed he DIDN'T want is Martz. He'll be pissy tomorrow.

I actually think Martz is a good hire for the 49ers. I thought he ran a decent offense in Detroit, but his running game and QB weren't worth a damn. The Lions are in pretty sad shape because of their GM, and until they can that guy, they'll still be horrible. Place hasn't been the same since Barry Sanders left town. Detroit's passing attack was better this year than it has been in the past. Overall, I think SF will be okay, but Alex Smith really needs to step it up next year or he's gonna be out on the street. They have the rushing attack, now if they'd get him a receiver or two.

I agree, somewhat. Granted he's a "pro" but he's had 3 different OC's in his 3 years. That could be tough on a young guy, even at that level.

Martz helped the Lions out of the gate this year, but once injuries took a toll they fell to pieces. Martz is an upgrade over whoever was the OC this year, that's for sure.
