Night Game Every Year

Saturday's first night game was a HUGE success, and I think the University should take advantage of that and have our home opener each year under the lights! And it should be against good competition too, not some DII team.

I know in 2014 and 2015 we have a H/H with North Dakota State, and the 2015 game against the Bison needs to be played under the lights! I think that whoever we open with at home in 2014 should also be played under the lights too.

What do you think? Would you like to see us have our home opener each year played under the lights? Or maybe have more than one game under the lights?

No. One a year is fine but more than that the out of towners (150 miles and less presumably) will forego the trek. I didnt get home until 2 am and wont do that more than once. Staying in Missoula is not likely as I prefer to get home with family.

I drive from Butte which is basically the same drive and wish every game in sept and oct was a night game.

It was finally nice to see a September game without baking in the sun. I wish they'd hold more night games or even move to 4 pm kickoffs. And while I'm ranting, since we have lights why in the hell is the November 16 game kicking off at 12?

This.

If it were up to me, at the very least, the EWU game this year would be at night.

I had the same question when the schedule came out. I thought one of the arguments for the lights was to do away with noon starts. They suck.

I agree! We should start a petition for the EWU game to be played under the lights this year.
You will have to send it to Root; they control game time for the games they cover. For the pennies we get.....

I love night games. These are magical moments in football.

But the ball, on a pass, is always coming in right on top of a light.

If I was a player, no.

Home opener should be under the lights. The rest should be 1:30 kickoffs. I love the tradition of Griz football in the fall afternoons.

My round trip is 700 miles and the road is pretty heavy with Griz fans from start to finish. A night games might work. Weeknight games wouldn't.
If I owned a Missoula business, I'd be worried that Saturday night games would encourage people to drive in Saturday instead of Friday night. Night games make it much easier to just spend one night in Missoula.

Yes, worse for the bar and hotel keepers, better for the ticket buyers and fans. I favor the latter. Two night stays exceed some families ability to afford.

Agreed. Season opener and the Eastern/MSU games would be fine with me. Playoffs are a different story. The UNI and App ones were simply on a different level atmosphere-wise.

Sorry, won't work. I already chewed Kent Haslem's ass for scheduling the EWU game on the opening day off elk season. He laughed and said he really wished he had more control over when we schedule games but that the BSC and TV contracts take 90% of it out of his hands, especially the BSC games.

Have a huge decesion to make. My two alltime favorite things, opening day of elk season or Griz game????

And the night games work great for all the people driving over from Billings. I swear every 4th car between Billings and Butte on Saturday morning had people driving with Griz gear on.
