Nick Williams in transfer portal

Awful lot of leaps there.

Not really. I agree with him. Had a better option been in over Fontes in the playoffs, we probably wouldn't have even went to OT. Fontes costed at the very least a TD in both of those games. Sorry. Fontes could be a really good player if he cleaned up a few things but, I didn't see much progress.

So you agree that he was behind guys that "didn't earn" there game reps? Curious how you know this to be the case.

Especially when other guys who are getting reps aren’t performing.
Wow, you're not watching the same games as most of the rest of us or the coaches. You must be smarter than all of us.

Smart recruiting, Williams was there if he really broke out; he didn't. Or if someone ahead of him didn't work out or got hurt. Good news is they didn't. It's called depth.

Yeah, not sure why that’s so difficult for people to figure out.

I predicted Williams to be the breakout offensive player this year in fall camp. Saw flashes of what he was capable of (I thought) when he was on the field with the 2nd team last year. But there has to be a reason he never cracked the 2-deep. EVER. Not even sure he saw the field this year. I think that says more about HIM than Hauck’s ability to “develop talent”.

With Fontes, White, Racanelli, Bergen, Deck, Simpson, Alford, and then Denver, Pendergast and Finch in the wings, he saw the writing on the wall and punched out. No big deal. At least we’re not Texas A&M (down 31 players for their bowl game! )

Yeah, no hard feelings. The young man came here, appeared to work hard, just from watching him on the sidelines, was engaged and encouraging. Just didn't work out for him. Truth be told nobody knows why he decided to move on; maybe playing time, maybe family back in Cali, maybe school or Missoula or whatever.

Looking at the guys ahead of him; White is obviously the best because he's Canadian. Fontes is an athletic freak and a quality receiver despite at least one poster on here having a hard-on against him. This Bergen kid seems to be useful and probably warrants inclusion in the team. Racanelli looks more and more comfortable, plus he throws a lovely south paw ball off the WR option. Deck is a "gym rat" if that were a football term, just always doing work. If you watched him his first few seasons, he was usually hovering off Coach Hauck's shoulder just sponging information. I wouldn't be surprised if Simpson decided to move on(not saying that for any reason, and I'm sure lots of you folks know him and his family and his situation much better than me, just feel like he's been with the program a while and it might be time to head for the next phase of his life).

I just think more guys should have rotated in with Fontes, at the very least. Everyone here should know when Bobby gets a hard on for a certain player, he rarely subs them out.

Fontes' big TD catch where he batted the ball to himself changed our season and began this team having the faith that they would pull out big moments. Ever since then, we have. Fontes deserves a lot of credit for being a spark that helped make this team what it is. He is also not a prima donna, and all of our WRs have chosen team over selfishness to great results. That is worth more than people give it credit for.

All you have to do is watch Fontes block on a play not to him, and he can be on the field every play as far as I’m concerned.

I am not sure if Williams is a good blocker or not, but if he isn't he never would play much for Bobby...

Yep. He learned from the best, Sammy. When Sammy was a freshman, in an early season game, I watched him block a guy into the wall padding on a running play. Loved him ever since. Sammy also had drops now and then, but all in all both these guys are terrific players and great team guys.

His reasons are HIS. If he was good enough to be #1, he'd be #1
Bottom line is, he quit. Quit on his teammates, quit on his coaches, quit on the fans. Could have quit AFTER the game, but he chose NOW. That is a backhanded slap. He has no commitment. Who would want him? :cya:

He might not have even been on travel squad. New semester starts in a few weeks so time is short for him to land somewhere.

This is described in the biz as “a bad take”.

And my hunch is he’ll have no trouble finding a place to land.

Historically, UM takes all of its players to the national championship game. That's one of the additional costs UM. A certain redshirting nephew of yours went in 2009, I believe.

So you got nothing but a bad opinion.

Again, calm down. The young man wasn't seeing the field so for any number of reasons he moved on. Yes, he was frequently on the travelling squad, if you ever wonder about something like this, check my posts. He didn't quit on his team, the portal is set up for FBS athletes after their season is over. There is a lot of pressure on FCS athletes to declare because in case you've been asleep, this is musical chairs and if you aren't there when the music starts, good luck.

Sounds more like the poster having a hard on for Bobby.
Going to the National Championship and still bitching about Bobby and the other coaches decisions.
