Nick Ostmo returning

There is no downside to this great news. Very happy for the kid. And who wouldn’t want to play in the greatest football environment in America?

Nick should have been given the ball on 4th and 1 on the goal line in the championship. Game would have been tied.

Let's hope the line play improves. I'm tired of the hype and then getting out rushed by MVFC teams.
Let's hope the troll game improves. I'm tired of the constant user name switches but same top five menu items; Coach Hauck sucks with a side order of "Bobby's Coaches Are Too Old", The Cats Own the State in Recruiting topped with absolutely no evidence sauce, The O-Line sucks/Where's the beef combo sandwich, All Our Top Returning Players Are Entering The Portal (This is presumably a take-out only item) and for dessert a parfait of The Cats/Bison are actually better, they just played their worst against the Griz.

I hope that Pease improves a bit on using the right guy in certain situations. Nick should be our power running/short yardage back while using Gilman + Harris in the zone, sweep and pass game.

Agree.

I don't mean to be pedantic, here, but isn't the reason that coaches got away from doing that was because it then makes it too obvious what the play is if you are running different plays with certain players?

If they did that, it would seem like then when Ostmo comes in, load the box up. When Gilman/Harris come in, be ready for zone run, sweep, or pass.

I am obviously not a college football coach, but the ones I have talked to about it have told me that at this point misdirection and disguise to make the defense make a mistake is the name of the game, so anything that is going to telegraph your plays is not great.

Man I was hoping for this. Nick is a great guy and awesome running back. Can't wait to renew my season tickets. GO GRIZ

A better way I could have phrased it should be "primarily" because yes you want to mix things up. At the same time the situation on the field such as down and distance you want to have the best personnel on place. Gilman has also shown a tendency for YAC so he could be used in either scenarioz in Nick's case could be the perfect time to run play action off of what appears to be a short yardage situation.

Agree.

I have ZERO problems giving Gillman the ball in short yardage. ZERO.

I don't either, he's proven to be a YAC machine but Nick has the size over him. I just see Nick as more of a North South runner, think it was Idaho where they tried a sweep with him on 3rd and short and it failed, off tackle or power would have been better.

Agree! I think Gillman north-south is always good for a couple yards. I think Ostmo catches the ball way better out of the backfield. That is one area Gillman needs to improve to take his game to next level. He had a least 5-6 drops this year, if not more.

I’m glad he was able to stay healthy this year and I hope the same for him next year. Had to be a strong pull to get him to come back because he had a solid exit plan. Excited as a fan. Hoping he made the best choice for himself and his future. Will be exciting to see a strong 1-2 punch back again.

Agreed. I take Ostmo at his word when he talks about the his long term health.

...and, he is healthy! Seems to have shed the injury bug, stayed injury free this season and is poised to wreak some havoc on would-be tacklers next season. How do you say freight train? Good news.

National championship game: 19 year old vs a 23 year old. We score there and the dynamics of the game change.

What does "dynamics of the game" mean?

THis is bullshit. You have no way of knowing a different outcome. Credit the defender for a phenomenal tackle and move on.
