In the Missoulian today, Tinkle says he is redshirting Nick. That means he's a keeper. I predict Mr. Emerson will recieve a scholarship before next season. He looks to me to be a good one.

Coaches are not going to play players in less they can contribute, and redshirting allows walk-on to gauge their ability level at D-1 and then move on to D-2, NAIA, or Jc with-out loosing a year of eligibility.
Again I mean no disrespect to Mr. Emerson, but I would not read too much into redshirting of walk-ons as a sign a scholarship is on its way. Look to what else the coach has to say.

My point went beyond Emerson and more to the theory that redshirting means a walk-on "is a keeper". Listen to Tinkle is my point and do not read into who gets redshirted or not. as some kind of grand scheme.
