Admittedly, I did not know a lot about an NFL practice team, how it worked, what the pay is, etc. Here is what I found out:
- An NFL team can sign up to 17 players on a practice squad (it used to be 5 when it first started many years ago)
- a practice squad player does everything a normal player does, practice, film, food, travels with the team to the games but they do not suit up and stay in street clothes
- they make $13,000 per week if they are in year one or two and they make $17,000 per week if they are beyond year 2
- They will get paid for all 18 weeks regardless of how long they are on that practice squad
- a practice squad player has no effect on salary cap
