NFL Hotbed: 2009 Griz vs Mountaineers Game

Over on the “game replay” thread, the question was raised as to how many players on the teams in the 2009 Montana-Appalachian State game “saw some time” with the NFL. I was pretty sure there were a lot of talented players on those two teams, but the specific question sent me off for some research. The results were, well, amazing … so I decided on this new thread.

Trouble is, after this much time, it’s hard to get good information from the web … unless they actually did get playing time. So, obviously, friends and family can probably offer some corrections and/or additions. But anyway you look at it, that game -- at the FCS/1-AA level -- featured an incredible amount of football talent.

I have to admit that I didn’t dig as hard on the App State bunch, but it is still damned impressive.

Several years ago I did some research (when info was more readily available).... I counted and there were 17 guys IN the NFL who played in that game (at least I think that was the number...

I should have made that distinction (like I did on the other thread). My list came from the overall roster. I didn't try to cross-check who actually played in the game. Either way you look at it, those were too damned impressive squads.

Yep, drafted in a late round. Collected a paycheck on IR, then had time on the Rams practice squad. Don't know how I missed him. Just adds to the awesomeness of the rosters for that game.
