NEZ and Student Section

LakGriz said:
unlike the NEZ, the SEZ has a lot of shadows/shade, GrizVision shadows that might make it less desireable, plus it's hard to see GrizVizion when it's behind you. that sw corner is a great place to dump visiting fans!!!
My folks and brother sat there last week and that was their only complaint. It does get cold in the winter right there too.

I am at a horrible decision point. We have seats in 221, and I can honestly say that from a place to watch the game there isn't a better spot. However, I would love to have seats with rabid fans around. No one stands up no one yells...I got grumbled at for jumping up and cheering when Konangata got the pick. Change or don't change it's a tough question.
That makes it easy...... Move.......

"Since their student section has been moved to the endzone, they have made an impact on the game like our NEZ crazies do, but definitely not as intimidating." No doubt just a trick to get the students out of some of the good seats and more income for the University from those filling them now on the side!

I like my endzone seats far better than I liked my previous seats on the sideline. I'm sure you'd find many NEZ'ers at Wa/Griz who feel the same way.

#1 - wouldn't trade our seats in the NEZ for any others in WGS.

me either. I love my seats, right on the aisle and the mens room is just right around the corner I'm usually first one there on a timeout!

I was there last year for the Griz -Cat game. I heard a pin drop several times, while the Cat's were still in the game. No comparison.

I had seats in the NEZ for one season only and have been on the east side, 40 yd line now for five years. I love the view of the game / field from where I sit now but definately had more fun / better fans, when I was in the NEZ.
I do think it would be cool to get the students in the best location that would benefit the team.

So was anyone at the chadron game? Exactly how many false starts did the crowd cause in comparison to NEZ vs South Dakota?

Doesn't count as louder when your own team has the ball and the student section is still screaming. The few cat games I have been to (as a student and a spectator) their student section has proven to be quite incompetent.

I like the SEZ student section idea. Imagine the two loudest sections projecting right towards and converging on the poor opposing offense

In bzn there were 2 or 3 false starts, and another 2-3 delay of games.

Fans are getting better every year

Having the students in the SEZ with the band would be pretty fun also and more rowdy. I guess I just want to see whoever is sitting in the SEZ get off their butts and get rowdy. :D

Well... you know I'm sitting wherever you're sitting... Soooo........ wherever that is will be the rowdiest section. :thumb:

They are headed in the right direction. But they still have a long way to go. Once the cats lose the little brother syndrome and start trying to do things their own way then maybe I will show them some respect.

One game doesn't make a reputation. Tired of the cats doing it right once and all the sudden they are the best at everything ever. Just don't even have a clue.

that is their biggest problem and they don't even know it...

Not sure where you get this impression. Game day experience has been getting better and better every year, as have the crowds. Keep in mind this initial discussion was started by the big sky conference facebook page, so MSU fans aren't the only ones recognizing the gameday atmosphere in Bozeman has markedly improved over the past few years.

ya i have been wondering this lately too. some griz fans are quick to point out that the cats think they are the greatest ever. where does this come from? because our fanbase is excited for the direction we're headed? does ash come across as arrogant and we're the best ever? do our players act like they are the best ever? what is it?

i agree many cat fans don't bend over backwards for the griz. and i concede we have some idiots just like you guys do. but do these idiots spouting off represent our football team and coaches? i never thought so. personally, i am very happy with how far this program has come in the last 10+ years since i was a student there. i have a lot of pride in their accomplishments. but i have never stated we're the best ever and i don't think our coaches or players have acted that way either.

i do find it funny that we are both the cockiest team in the state....but we also have little brother complex. remember guys....just because you say it....or because you read it on a message board.....does not make it fact. :thumb:

I went to the cat/Chadron St game and sat in the end zone with the students. I felt awkward as I was a Griz fan standing with all of the MSU athletes. (They got honored for winning the Big Sky Cup) The section was loud. I don't think it was as loud as the NEZ in Missoula but at times was very loud. They also seemed to lose interest in the 2nd half but that is normal since they were playing Chadron St. My only problem is they kept chanting FTG. Got old listening to that all game. I was impressed with the stadium and the lights. Wish the tailgates were more lit up though. Very tough to walk around at halftime and after with it being so dark.

I actually think your coach is coming across as a bit arrogant this year. I don't remember his exact quotes after the Chadron St game but it seemed like he was saying his defense was amazing, the best ever, didn't make one mistake. I didn't hear him say it, just read it, but it came off as being pretty cocky after playing a one dimensional division II team. IMO.

 We've been slowly and steadily improving for 10 years. We are now amongst the best FCS schools in the country in every measurement. The Griz are still ahead in most every measurement. So what. Fortunately, most the people who actually affect the change aren't measuring success based on UM. We're climbing our own mountain and we aren't at the top - not because of the Griz, but because we have a vision of being better in all measurements - irregardless of what happens to the West. It happens that we share a state and a conference so we get compared, but it isn't the actual difference makers who can't get past the comparison. And be honest with yourselves, this isn't about one game, it's about building a foundation and growing over time. We have two great football schools. MSU's improvement doesn't hurt the Griz any. The rivalry IS more fun now and will only get better.
