Next years schedule

So probably two home games get wedged in, a D-2 school and a mid-major FCS, maybe a conference team from the Big Sky in one of those goofy games that don't count to the conference record.

It's a tough schedule, but it's ideal for the team. EWU booked a very tough 2013 schedule and it's worked out well for them. People in the past have whined about the OOC booking being too light. Well, here you go, this is a challenging schedule and it'll mold the team well next year.

Great post and 100% right. We didn't play anyone good until EWU and we know how that went. A challenging schedule will prepare us for the play-offs. We catch EWU late in the year too. That will be a great game, though they will be tough to beat.

Hmmm. I understand how a tough schedule can help you prepare for the playoffs... But it can also keep you out of them.

It has worked for EWU and they don't have near the resources or team that we do.

Interesting point, considering the last four games vs. them and playoff resume of both programs...

It's my understanding that the date of the NDSU game is not yet set and is under negotiation. It could be any of the weeks 9/6 to 9/20. On the positive side, both Wyoming and NDSU will have new HCs and the latter loses a very heavy senior population. We should have a decent shot at both. Since the other OOC games need to be home games, don't get your hopes up regarding quality.
This!
NDSU is losing 24 seniors this season plus under new coaching staff when the Griz show up. Wyoming loses quite a few also (not sure on the exact number) but Bohl will likely be working on converting that spread offense to a run style. Montana might get their first win ever against Wyoming. I've also heard that Bohl has heavy intentions of moving Wyoming up to the Big12. http://www.wyonation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=10089" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

From what I heard we are trying to get two fcs games and no d2 games next year. Heard psu was a possible game but I'm too lazy to see what their sched looks like.

I thought I heard Idaho State as a home non conference also. Would be sweet to get a team like San Diego in Missoula.

Miss the not so old Big Sky. Except for CalPoly, the new additions suck and so does this scheduling. We should play Portland State/NAU/ISU every year.

8/30/14 @Wyoming L
9/6/14 @NDSU Toss up
9/13/14 D-II W
9/20/14 Mid FCS Depends on opponent
9/27/14 Northern Colorado W
10/4/14 @North Dakota W
10/11/14 Open
10/18/14 UC Davis W
10/25/14 @ Cal Poly Toss up
11/1/14 Sac. State W
11/8/14 @ Eastern Wash L
11/15/14 @ Southern Utah W
11/22/14 Montana State W

I see us going 10-2 best case or worst case 7-5. Then again, any given Saturday anything can happen.

Unless we get at least 7 of the 12 Apostles to replace current members of the coaching staff, and recruit the other 5 Apostles to play, next year might be a long one for the Griz.

I have posted this a number of times, so I will again. The Griz' home opener is SET IN STONE. It is Sept. 13 against Joe Glenn's South Dakota Coyotes. If you don't believe me, you can read it right here.

VERMILLION, S.D.—University of South Dakota football will open its 2014 season against University of Oregon on Aug. 30 at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Ore. The Ducks are a part of the Coyotes’ non-conference schedule which includes a trip to Montana (Sept. 13) and a home game against Northern Arizona (Sept. 20).

We don't have near the team that you do? Please elaborate :coffee:

I think what he is trying to say is that your coaching staff is subpar compared to the Griz. ;)

Trades???

Playing EWU away who hate us and will give their all to win. Then another away game to SUU who hate us and will give their all to win. Then back home to finish off with MSU who hate us and will be looking for revenge. Whoa going to be hard to get thru those three games without a lose.

Going to be hard not to start off with losses against Wyoming and NDSU too. If the Cowboys offense is as good as their FBS ranking they may light up Hangover's defense the likes of which we haven't seen in a while.

I not ready to concede any of these games yet. NDSU won't be what they are now. Wyoming isn't going anywhere by week 2. MSU will suck. We always play EWU tough. SUU is certainly beatable. Could be 8-4, could be 10-2, or better. Everything depends on the productivity of the off season and a few transfers.

I'd like to start a home and away game with Northern Iowa. Maybe try one with Idaho also!
Can't happen with Idaho or it would. Their FBS conference (like all others) does not allow their teams to play in FCS venues. Hard to understand why we haven't had one with UNI., other than they have never beaten us (0-5).

I agree 100%. If NDSU ends up with a coach that wants to turn thngs around, its gonna be years before they are back. They have a great program but the there is just to many holes to fill. Wyoming, same thing. I think its gonna be a great season! I'm not worried about the LBs here. They're all proven just need playing time at the starting spot. (I hope they don't make me eat my words)

Another reason why I believe the Griz have a good chance at Wyoming... if this happens anyways....

we don't have a good enough team next year to beat anyone from the m.w.c.

right now the most important part of the schedule is finding a f.c.s. team to come play us. if not we're looking at a five game home schedule.

Maybe Monmouth will come to visit the great state of Montana again?
