Next Year

Do you ever wonder what the opponents fans really think? My friends and family and all the fans sitting around us all agreed that Montana is at the very least the second most talented team in the BSC right now. In fact, in my opinion they have more talent than any team in the league.

Montana is loaded--don't be fooled. If the Griz would play the game inside out--no team in the BSC could play with them. Huge and athletic, but so content on the perimeter. Montana can not and should never get drilled on the boards. Maybe a more physical offensive approach would help out on the defensive boards.

I don't see every Griz game, but I know a good BSC team when I see one. Get some more grit and the BSC Title runs thru Missoula next year--especially with the players on the pine this year.

JH is the best player in the BSC--hands down. Montana needs to realize that its offense needs to run thru him next season. He creates a big time mismatch for any team in the BSC.

Don't get me wrong--I love ISU, but Idaho State does not have the horses that Montana has. It may sound corny, but is there any chance that Montana has too much talent and not enough roll players--you know--not enough shots to go around?

Thanks for the kind words. As for Hasquet, many on here would echo your statement. I really do wish this team would learn how to fully utilize his talent. He has a game and talent to make others better.

I understand peoples frustration the past 2 years. The tallest team in the Big Sky shoots the most 3 pointers and rebounds so poorly. Add in their inability to consistantly make free throws and you have the perfect formula for losing every close game. Even when we shoot lights out for a half, we tend to lead by single digits due to our rebounding dificulties. It seemed the only real up side was our lack of turn-overs and our assists. We have good talent coming in next year, but if we continue to get out-rebounded, miss free- throws and take low percentage shots it could very well be a repeat of the last 2 years. Tinks has a 3 year contract and next year for me will be the make or break year.

I think that is fair regarding Tinkle.

Pretty fair assesment Diacan. I think that was exactly what Tinkle was referring to when he mentioned toughness, or lack thereof by some members of the team. I think that will change next season, it needs to.

The factor you are missing is team quickness. Next year one again
Griz will be lacking. This effects things on defense greatly which is
not the teams forte. It does not matter how much you score if you
can't defend.
The Griz often can't play matchup zone because they don't match
up.

I agree quickness needs to improve as well, and I believe better athletes are coming into the program in Ward and Stockton. If you watched Jack McGillis play at Oregon State then you know he can defend.
