Next up 3/3 vs N. Dakota

Watching Weber and Idaho...yikes...how in hell did UM lose to both? Idaho, in particular, shooting around 27% and still leading WSU...really bad basketball but it's like a train wreck..can't look away..

they played better.......duh.....

Idaho 57-55 at 1:45, TV timeout. Was sorta rooting for UI until I remembered it doesn't matter. Since Weber won the only matchup with the Griz (goddam unbalanced schedule), they have the tie-breaker and get the #1 seed even if they do lose.

Wonder if being co-champions of the regular season might be good for an NIT bid. Hmmm.

Sort of

A UM win and a Weber L (at EWU) on Saturday gives UM the league title...

But you are correct it really does not matter.

Okay, UI wins so WSU and UM are both 14-3 in conference.

The Griz should "hold serve" at home against NoCol. And EWU might upset Weber ... but I do not see that happening.

Still leaves my (edited in, late) question: Would co-champions of the regular season be in the running for the NIT?

It matters a lot. If we can beat Northern Colorado and EWU can beat Weber we would be the Big Sky Champs. What does that mean? Not much in the tournament but if we were to lose in the tournament the regular season champions get an NIT bid. That is important for recruiting and also bragging rights as being the regular season champions. I would sooner go to the Big Dance but any post season tournament would be just fine with me.

If Weber plays EWU like they did Idaho, Eastern will win in a runaway and UM, should they down NCU, would get conference championship and the 1st seed and the bye..

You make your point. Actually, I think it was Stanford, but I admit I'm not sure. Still, an appearance in the post-season does have some recruiting value even if fans in general have no clue. (It's all about playing time.)

I listened to the game on the way home from Denver. I got to Butte around tip off, and got home at the end of the game. Sounds like the GRIZ defense was stifling. Now, no let down against UNC.

It's a GREAT day to be a GRIZ!! Couldn't watch the game unfortunately, but wow, what a beat down of a good BB team.

Thanks Spuds

And yes, it DOES matter. With a win, Griz will be co-champs and can hang a banner. Yes, Weebs will have the bsc bullshit tie break, but it's still a title for the GRIZ. And should Ewoo upset Weebs, we win it outright.

And of course anyone would rather Dance. But there's definite value in the NIT. You get at least an extra week of practice and you get to play a damn good basketball team on a neutral floor. The experience would be valuable for what is still a very young BB team.

GO GRIZ!!!!

Hopefully Jois shoots a little better from the FT line against Weber than he did against ISU...

1-10 from the line with many of them in the 2nd half being front ends of 1 and 1s. Ouch.
