Next up 2/4 @ Sac State

One of the weaknesses this team has, is that its post players (Breunig, Lopez, Krislovic) can't stay out of foul trouble. That game doesn't escalate the way it does if Stuteville isn't allowed to manhandle us down low there for about that five minute run.

We don't have guys who can handle the beating down low w/out getting in foul trouble. Krislovic, from a post defense standpoint, is our most vital guy and he spent 90% of last nights game on the bench. Are those fouls warranted? Maybe. But we get out muscled down low when he isn't in there.

Boehning needed to be that guy but hasn't panned out. I get the impression there is something going on there, but Kyle Sample and others can't say what exactly it is, but I just get the impression his Boehnings absence might be long term. That however is pure speculation.

Yeah I did like some of the things Dejong did. He looks fairly fluid and agile. Needs to get bigger and stronger.

Have you stood next to DeJong? He is a legit 6'8". He is taller than the 6'6" he's listed at. He is around 220 lbs now. I feel, physically he is fine. He just needs to learn the game and adjust to the competition. He surely is coming around nicely. I wish I knew what is up with Boehning? I wonder if he is struggling in the class room?

What I said has nothing to do with his height or frame. I feel he needs to put on some muscle. Weight has nothing to do with it. It was the make-up of the weight. You may feel physically he is fine I think he needs to put on some muscle. In any case I thought he looked pretty good last night and showed some potential.

I've never stood next to DeJong, but he looks almost as tall as Breunig when they stand next to each other. He also looks pretty muscular to me. But he's a young guy, and I'm sure he can buff up even more if he gets in the weight room.

I hadn't seen enough of him to really make a judgment of how much touch he has a big man. A couple weeks ago he threw up a real brick on a layup. But last night he looked like he had a lot of touch; he moved well around the basket.
In fact, he seems to have better dexterity than Krslovic, who often seems to just toss up shots or slap at balls on rebounds. But it is a bit early to tell just how good DeJong is going to be.

Sometimes he looks a little awkward in terms of his movement, but that's the sort of thing that you sort out from getting playing time and getting more comfortable on the floor with yourself and your teammates. Wish he'd had a chance to get in more minutes earlier in the year to polish his skills in some of those games when we were well ahead.

Everyone keeps talking about Sac only having 2 conference wins prior to last night....my question is....Would it really surprise anyone if a team further down the standings....say 5-8....won the tournament.....

And as for winning the conference.....it really doesn't give the team much of an advantage over the 2-4 place teams.....since it is being played in Reno....it does of course get you into the NIT....

Pretty sure you could play the big sky tourney 6-7 times this year and have a different winner every time. I don't think there is one teams who is that much better than everyone else. It will be a matter of who is playing the best in March.

I also think by the end of next week, it will be pretty easy to tell who the top 4 seeds will be. My guess is Montana, Weber, Idaho, and EWU will all be in the top 4 next week with a decent size lead looking at their current record and next 3 games...

First, I think DeCuires technical was warranted. He earned it, but he had one heck of a point. It was over the back and the non-call was clearly to the advantage to the offense. Even if it wasn't an elbow to the head.

Totally agree on both points. It was earned but also he had a legitimate beef on that no-call. It wasn't just an over the back either, it was a flat out beating while being over the back. No idea why that was a no-call.

Lopez T was legit as well. I didn't care for how it was handled from an officiating standpoint. He was drug to the floor from behind. That was escalated by the foul in the first place and the rapid movement by the sac state guy to jump in. Can't defend Jack, cause that went from being a free throw on our end, to a 2 for 2 trade and Lopez was out of the game.

What did Lopez do to earn the T btw? I'm not disputing he earned it, I just didn't see it the first time and the replay isn't up on eversport yet :( Was it something he said or did he shove the guy someone?

He shoved the guy back as I was to assume he was going to pick his guy up off the floor after dragging Jack down. Just wasn't a drag down, I have seen tackles w/ less contact. Jack was obviously angry and just has to control himself there.

My experience w/ officiating is that officials have to step and diffuse those situations by allowing players to get untangled and keeping others away. Two were dealing with the engtanglement and the other guy just sort of spectated from what I could gather. The video feed got it pretty clearly. The Sac State guy who Jack shoved came in hot to the pile.

The right thing to do would be recognize what caused the incident and waive off the T or just wait a moment to decipher what happened before you reflexively T someone up. Jack responded and got caught. The second guy always does.

I 100% believe both of the techs were correctly called, but as mentioned above Travis had a legit reason to be angry on that. As for Jack that was a stupid shove but I get it. I was honestly surprised they didn't take a look at it. From the camera angle I thought it could have been a double tech on him and the guy that looked like he was keeping him from getting up. But again, Jack has to be smarter there.

Interesting stats, at the point in the season where, for most players, their time of play starts to make the stats significant. I wouldn't consider Dunn's, DeJong's, or Boehning's numbers significant yet because of limited play time.

Congratulations Weber, big sky champs.

Look....it is Chicken Everett.....

Do you disagree? We're likely not going to win at Weber, and since they don't come to Missoula, means they will essentially have a 3 game lead (when the tiebreak is thrown in).

How's this looking now, EG?
