Next up 1/14 @ NCU

For the "road," a very good win. Not a lot of "great" stats, but they played as a team and they got a win on the road.

Kind of an odd night for Wright. Had all those assists last weekend, and only one tonight. Wonder if the defense was doing something different that had him change his game, or if there were some other factors.

I wasn't able to watch a lot, but watched the last 10 minutes. What I did see was a press that was very effective against the Griz despite not forcing turnovers. It certainly took them out of their rhythm and got the bears back into the game. I was surprised the Griz weren't able to attack the zone and get some layups from that. They should have been able to adjust and attack, but maybe they were told to hold back and not force shots.

A lot of Wright's assists come from penetration and kicking it out to someone for an open 3 or open jumper. We couldn't throw it in the ocean from 3 tonight (4-21) so as expected the assist numbers were down quite a bit.

In the game against Sac Wright had 12 assists. 9 of them resulted in jump shots or 3 pointers.
In the game against PSU Wright had 9 assists. 6 of them resulted in jump shots or 3 pointers.

Gotta hit the open outside looks (or at least a decent percentage of them) when we get them. Both Wright and Oguine are very good at penetrating and kicking it out to open shooters. Their assist numbers will almost always tell the story about whether we shot well from outside or not.

True, if the guys you are throwing it to don't make the shots, than your assist numbers will drop dramatically. And the FG percentage was way down tonight....

While we couldn't buy a bucket, it's encouraging to know we are still a good enough to pull out an end to end win on the road even when the shots aren't falling.

Look forward to some better execution in ND...
