Give this young guy a chance. He may be great, who knows? And, if he turns out to be, Everett will jump on the band wagon lauding him just like he does on everything.

ignored my fantastic football knowledge and voted for some folks that he beleives don't drink and drive.

I plan on getting even. He can't stay out of the Mo Club forever.

This comment will get some fuchsia panties in a wad, but it is my serious opinion about the egriz posters. The four biggest hacks on this board, in no particular order, are Everett, CDA, AZGrizFan, and Horrible (appropriately named). Risky Cranium ain't far behind.

They all share these admirable qualities:

1) they know nothing about football
2) they try desperately and unsuccessfully to be comedians
3) they are the worst-of-the worst Griz homers, totally lacking objectivity
4) they hi-jack and ruin every football thread with stupid comments, slams, and lame-assed attempts to be funny

However, it's something that cannot be undone, and it has ZERO to do with how Riley will do calling games. Riley is a strong broadcaster, and no, MSU women's basketball was not his first gig. It was, however, how he got his foot in the door with Learfield.

And about the Learfield thing, I wonder, will some of you that wish to protest them be able to go the rest of your Grizzly lives without EVER looking at the new Griz Vision? Yes, yes, I know many of you can look away from the ads and the Jimmy John's Contest, but will you also turn a blind eye to things like the starting lineups, the tunnel run and replays? Monte movies, ect? Because guess what...the reason there is a video board in Wash-Griz is BECAUSE OF LEARFIELD. Also, in protesting Learfield, I would suggest NEVER going to gogriz.com. EVER. It's also a Learfield property.

Hav, you're one of the best posters on this board, and if you think highly of Riley it carries a lot of weight with me. However, I still question whether he was the absolute best applicant, or just the cheapest.

In either event, I do take some exception with your second paragraph. Yes, the new Griz Vision will be nice. But let's be honest, it's not as if Learfield "gave" that to us out of the goodness of their hearts, or with an eye on corporate civic duty. They did it because, as the marketing arm of UM athletics, they get revenue that the program would otherwise get, and therefore UM has to get something in return.

And frankly, goGriz, although a little better recently, still isn't the same quality it was prior to Leafield taking over.

The operation was botched and the accompanying optics couldn't have been worse. From jump street right up to hiring the dude from the Blowsmen Vaginaball department. End of story.

Everett, I am not privy to if there were more qualified or experienced applicants. Just can't speak to that. I can say, and while I totally agree, the new Griz Vision was certainly dollars and cents motivated by Learfield, the board itself is not costing UM athletics, boosters or tax payers anything, and I am privy to the fact that before Learfield decided to install a new one at Wash-Griz, UM was trying to figure out how to get five more years out of the original one because that's how long they estimated private fundraising would take for a new one. So, and maybe it's just me, but I'm grateful for Learfield stepping up, because Wash-Griz, while the best FCS venue in many, many ways, was wayyyyyyyy behind when it came to its video board. And I'm glad the stadium is getting a new one, however it came to be.
