LOVE his potential. Lock him in the new weight room and feed him 8 times a day. 3 years from now he could be a prototype OT. Great pick up who will be fun to watch develop. Thanks for all the info Vim.

this,,,,,,,,and 11.22 is fast folks for anyone, let alone a 6'7" guy.....can't teach real speed or height ....

Spot on, Krammer.

11.47 and a lean 6'6" got Butte High DE/TE a scholarship to the Univ of Oregon to defense from 2012-2016.

There are a sh!t ton of Big Sky Conf H receivers that run NOWHERE near 11.22

Comparing Cody Carriger to Colten in high school would be an unfair comparison to both. Cody was a much more physically gifted and talented football player in high school than Colten is right now entering his senior season.

I agree Carriger was a much better high school football player.

I was just comparing high school height and speed.

Yup I gotchya. I just don't want you guys to expect Colten to be an immediate impact player. I project him to be a 3-year project then you see where he's at entering his junior season. Will need time to develop and I think Stitt has finally gotten the roster where he can comfortably bring young players along.

Just did a quick due diligence, and it is HIGHLY unlikely Colten runs a true 100m time of 11.22:

100 Meters
9 12.18 Apr 5 Cal Wearley Memorial V P
5 11.96 Apr 5 Cal Wearley Memorial V F
7 12.21 Apr 29 Belt-Fairfield All-Comers 2 V F
1 11.88 May 12 District 10C Meet V P
1 11.79 May 12 District 10C Meet V F
2 11.22 PR May 18 Northern C Divisional V P :?:
2 11.91 May 18 Northern C Divisional V F
15 12.06 May 27 MHSA Class C State Championship V P
15 12.06 May 27 MHSA State Meet Class A & C C P

For sure a project player. Honestly I can predict a time when Curry will start to play, but what I will say is that it all depends on how he is transitioning and how well he is putting on weight. Also, how he adjusts to 11 man football, which is a big change from 6 man, just due to the strategic aspect. I could see him making an impact his Redshirt Junior year for sure, that is if he put on the appropriate weight.

my comment on speed and height was meant to be considered only for true objective measurements....having coached some, I do know that if a kid can run 11.22 , 6'7" and is only 16- 17 years old,,,,,, well, that is something to work with, along with his blood line, tells me, he may be a potential star at any number of positions.... speed and size is a nice combination in football.

FAT. Popped his hip flexor in the divisional meet after the 11.22. He had to scratch all events at State after re-injuring it in the 100 prelims.

He was at the Iowa St. camp and they were looking at him primarily at TE. Another C kid who is 6'5 with just as much athleticism and better frame is Treyton Pikering from Sunburst...

Glad you brought him up because he actually does dominate every game. However, he might be going the basketball route instead.

Pickering has big legs and is athletic. Overall he does not have the same speed or jumping ability as Curry. I think Curry is just starting to fill out, I heard somewhere that he just turned 17 in April. Pickering should certainly be an o-line prospect for many schools. He has a frame that will allow him to put on a lot of pounds. I would love to see Pickering go the football route, he has a lot of potential. Too many Class C and B kids get missed in the state.

I just read the tribune article on Curry. His dad was 225 leaving high school and played as a redshirt freshman, started as a redshirt sophomore. His quote coming from 8 man is that football is football all the fundamentals are the same. There is a good chance that this kid will be 225 or 230 when he leaves high school. I think it is silly to try and predict how any of these recruits will pan out. There are too many variables once they get to college. Probably not fair to think a kid either doesn't know 11 man strategies, when his dad played in the NFL, or that it will take him 3 or 4 years to do so. I like what appears to be Stitt's strategy......find athletes who are good or really good football players and turn them into GREAT football players. :thumb:
