New Uniforms?

Stick to the brand. Forgive me, but are Clemson and LSU in the championship because their unis are super trendy? Pretty sure both of theirs have been the same for decades.

Maroon tops, Montana across the chest, silver (not granite) helmets, Griz script, done.

Last ones were great, just make the Montana a little bigger.

Clemson unis are modern fit, material, & style - one solid, sleek color head to toe and modern fit and modern material. Griz unis are practice uni garbage thrown together by a hobo dumpster diver.

Make it at least relevant to 18 year old recruits and casual, young fans deciding which team to dedicate their life (and future game day experiences and charitable remainders) to. Why would you NOT want either of these?
Just think of all the recruits that picked Oregon over Montana because of the uniforms. No recruits I am aware of pick their program with uniforms as a criteria. However, these "practice uni garbage thrown together by a hobo dumpster diver" exude class that does not go unnoticed. And the Clemson unis were outclassed by OSU, but you can counter that it was the unis that won the game for Clemson or that all those players came because of what the unis might be 4 years later.

The Oregon unis in the Rose Bowl were some of ugliest I've seen. But for the helmets, looked like NDSU....

mtgriz mentioned that this would be a perfect helmet for Montana as it really represents the true colors of copper, silver and gold.

Just win and they could play in their underwear, sorry don't get hyped over clothes. Yes I am an old guy.

Don't raise your hand in class unless you've actually done your HW :coffee:

Montana steps into the future with new uniforms

In place of the stretchy, shimmer-sheen, woven mesh jerseys Montana had used for years are a set of flat-colored, state-of-art, laser-cut jerseys that hug to a player’s body better than any jersey the university had previously used.

“This fabric is like nothing I’ve ever seen. It’s awesome,” said Stack, a 26-year veteran of the equipment room, as he pulled at a jersey with both hands only to see it barely stretch before returning to its resting form.

With the home jerseys, Stack pointed out the various vents the old uniforms didn’t have. The hope Nike has there with the Mock Speed line is that will better help heat dissipate from the players.

There are vents on the sides, on the chest, on the back where a nameplate might have appeared, and in tiny little holes in the abdomen that have been laser cut through a more stretch-resistant material reminiscent of what you might find on a heavy duty rain jacket.

“The back prevents heat in the low back where you see a lot of moisture points,” Stack pointed out. “It’s venting out heat through the sides, that’s what they’re designed to do. This new fabric is like nothing we’ve ever had. It’s very heavy duty, but it gives.”

He also pointed out several other areas Nike redesigned to make them better suited for football players. Arm holes have been cut deeper to help with movement. At the bottom, the jerseys that previously provided extra material for defenders to grab onto if they came untucked have been tapered at the waist with a slim elastic band.

Stack and Stitt both said that players gave high reviews of the state-of-the-art uniforms.

That would be cool for Cat Griz next year.

That's probably a $50,000 item; get your contribution in....

Mikey, no copper, silver, gold, please. Those are not the "old" colors and, besides, every attempt to use approximations of those colors has looked like crap.

I know these are not the "old" colors, but I like them. They are pretty unique, not like maroon found in many other teams. They are the official school colors, not the spirit colors of maroon, black, and silver.

I also know this isn't a popular opinion here, but I here a lot of positive comments about copper, silver, and gold on game day. Especially in the stands.

I'm 100% in favor of copper, silver and gold because they will look good; be uniquely 'Montana'; and reflect the culture, history and tradition of Montana.

REAL SILVER PANTS TO MATCH REAL SILVER HELMETS

And I tend to agree that our current uniform set is one of the more uninspired designs we’ve ever had (the quality is obviously better though). However, I will take the current design every time over those ones that had all of the black accents and pants that looked like they peed themselves. Lastly, we should only wear maroon or silver pants...never white.

With BH as HC, I would expect a fairly conservative revision coming up, but just a few small changes as discussed would make a huge difference (truer colors and slightly bigger Montana...not too big).

Montana does not need to be written in some stupid giant font on the front of the jersey, that just looks cheap. As for the Chrome copper ASU helmet, from the day I saw that I knew it had to be used as at least an alternate for Montana.

I liked the “throw backs” we wore a couple years ago that auctioned off. Those looked good. I like the ASU helmets as well! Would look sharp with Griz script logo on the side. Again where the hell is Willie? He use to read inform ideas and bang he would have one one here?

Huh?

Wow that was some sloppy fat finger typing on my part Kem!
There was a poster on eGriz a few years ago with the name of Willie or similar spelling that had amazing graphic art talent. Posters would talk about helmets and jerseys and Willie would come out of no where and post the design. It was pretty impressive.

Unfortunately we have lost a number of good posters because of the vast amount of twittage the board now endures.

This. Just because we had a damn Texas Alum as president once. My grandfathers band jacket from 1934 is....Maroon.

It had absolutely nothing to do with the school colors being copper, silver, and gold?

The school color was maroon before it was “burnt orange” which is what manufactures make. You can’t buy copper colored swag, so they made ours in Texas “orange”. It was a Texas guy who promoted the change. The silver and gold made it somewhat Montana, but those aren’t original colors to UM. Let them go...

There is strange denial of the facts that the uniform colors were Maroon and Silver until 1968 when Swarthout changed it, having spent some time with Daryl Royal at UT. In 1996 we returned to the original "old" colors of Maroon and Silver. It's quite a stretch from the burnt orange and babysh!t yellow that was used from '68-'95 to the beloved "copper, silver and gold", which has never existed in a Griz uniform.
