I see that UM is asking the BOR for permission to spend $850k to install new turf and field pads in Wa-Griz this summer. I recall Bobby saying at one point that he didn't think our current field was in very good shape compared to some of the newer fields in the BSC. Could lead to less injuries.

On a related note, I thought artificial turf was supposed to be cheaper than natural grass over the life span. Is that still the case?

The field pads are probably almost half the $850k and are being replaced after 20 years, which is on the lower end. Grass costs $50k to $65k a year to maintain at the FCS level.
