I turned 10 in the Bitterroot Valley. When I was about 15 or so dad took my brother and I to a BYU Game which we lost 7 to 6 and a Utah State game which we lost 14 to 6 or7. The catch to the Utah State game was they had at least 3 guys over 240 lbs. All of them made the NFL. One of them was Merlin Olsen! Our biggest guy's name, I think, was John Greger who was 6' 4" and 230 lbs. It was in the days of single platoon.

That fall/winter dad took us to 2 basketball games. We beat Utah State this time even though they had won the NIT the year before which had more prestige in those days. We also beat University of Idaho who had Reg Caroline (sp) that played tight end in the pros and was 6'6". Our center was Lowery at 6"7' and a guy named Sullivan at 6'6". Bobby O'Billivitch and a kid named Lowery played guard. Both were under 6'. O'Billivitch was from Butte and was the QB on the Football team. He had a successful career in Canada as a DB.

I've been a Grizz fan ever since.

Not only was Bobby O the Griz BB point guard, and QB, he was also played safety, and was the shortstop on the Grizzzly baseball team.

I actually played in that game , and I and Merlin Olsen got kicked out for fighting.John Gregor and I played side by side for 4 years. great memory.

Haha, just kidding - glad to have you on board man!

 I had that very same thing thought after I sent a welcome. That miscreant has soiled my trust of others almost as bad as he soiled himself.

Steve Lowry from Roberts/Red Lodge. A story in itself.

I watched Lowry play when he was in high school. He was so much bigger than anyone else on the court, he didn't have to leave his feet to shoot.

Which is good because his vertical was about 6". He and a teammate Teegarten were from Roberts and were the cream of class C. Somehow both parents managed to find employment in Red Lodge and they transferred to class B Red Lodge and were nearly as dominant there. There is still war between Roberts and Red Lodge when either is mentioned.

Wow OP. Sounds like you’re just in time. The Mods will be rolling out a new sticky especially for gentlemen of your advanced life experience. I believe they are going to call it “low hanging fruit.”
