New Rule? Cal Poly vs MT State

However you look at it, the NCAA added the rule to stop showboating when going into the end zone. The celebrations after a touchdown, sack, interception, whatever are the same as always. The running back waits until he gets into the end zone, and nobody has an issue. The NFL has even discussed adding this rule after the Golden Tate return incident against the Rams.

The rule is much too severe in my opinion. The call could have changed the outcome of the game and state college could have won. The end result was good as they lost. It's always good to see state college on the short end of the stick. No, they aren't our little brothers!

I see nothing wrong with celebration after a good play. Everyone should be able to enjoy the game, especially the players, but Mr.Garcia provided context for an unsportsmanlike behavior with his "Oh yeah, look at me" bobblehead antics after every play. What might appear to be uninhibited exuberance as an isolated incident, was clearly taunting and unsportsmanlike behavior given the rest of the showboating. Under other circumstances I would not like the call but in this case it was justified and the right call to make ("Oh yeah, look at him"). Fortunately for Garcia, the lesson didn't cost his team the game.

Watching CP vs MSU right now....Cal Poly just scored a touchdown but it was called back for unsportsmanlike conduct due to "high-stepping, toe-dragging" stride of the CP player???
6 points put on the board, then taken back. Is this a new rule? Since when and what are the guidelines?
This call made me ill!

I too thought it was pretty much a bullshit call. That is no different then when a DE or safety makes a great tackle and gets up and makes some gesture with their arms like flexing muscles. It is getting to be a bit to much.
+1

Garcia saw he was free to the end zone and slowed his stride. When he saw he was going to be close to not getting into the end zone before getting hit, he picked up his speed again.
I saw no "taunting" by anything other than slowing his speed down going into the end zone to his own possible peril.
No reason for this flag as I understand the rule. If the rule does cover Garcia's action, then the rule is way too harsh and should be looked at for change.
Go Griz!

And to think I got tossed out of the game for giving a ref the finger. Nothing is fair any more. I am getting a good lawyer.

Poly won anyway. Just 6 points less.

The real question is this the beginning of msu's famous late season melt down or will they win another game?

I thought EWU had a TD called back in WaGriz 3 years ago for THE SAME THING

I think that's true. I know that it's colloquially known as he "EWU Rule."
No, he was penalized for walking into the endzone, but they didn't wave the TD off

Does anybody remember back in the 90's (I think we were still copper and gold) when a Grizzly DB intercepted a pass, returned the INT the majority of the length of the field and turned around to look at the scoreboard before reaching the endzone? That was called back for taunting I believe.

Yes, they did wave off the TD.
