New Redshirt Rule and Post Season

I know myself and others were a little confused on the new redshirt rule (allows a player to play in 4 games and still redshirt) and how it relates to the post season. There was some talk that you cannot participate in a post season game and still redshirt. I found out that’s not the case. A player can play in any 4 games (including bowls or post season) and still redshirt. This article references that fact as well. This made how a coach uses this rule much more interesting to me.

The confusion came in for one specific instance...a mid year transfer who comes in and participates in the post season is not eligible to still redshirt. Everyone else is fair game.

“If a student enrolls midyear and plays in a postseason football game before or during their first term, the new rule does not apply.”

I really like this new rule. Thinking on how it could be advantageous to any team. Take for example Sulser : Bring him late in the season with a game or two left . Other teams have no film on him . Plus give your starters a rest before a run in the playoffs .
On another note about my post , I hope PR doesn't call me Mr. Obvious LOL

I agree I think it’s great for the players. They actually can work hard and have something to look forward to if there’s potential for them to play. I love it for depth, injuries, and surprise playoff weapons too :)
