in early august of this year, he apparently gave a verbal commitment to utah state.

I have more info up on my blog now, and may have more if I find out more info. He visited the same week-end as Billy Reader (homecoming weekend) and sounds like a great get for the griz. It is amazing how 6-10 - I played center in in college - Tinkle has been able to really recruit some top notch guards.

i'm a big believer in point guards (as is mslacat.) a guy like dominguez from portland state just changes the entire game. i vividly recall how much better montana was in the ncaa tournament game against oregon when shane christiansen was on the floor versus when sam riddle came in to relieve him. come the big dance, point guards are sort of like starting pitchers in post-season baseball. they are just critical.

i think you recruit one true point every year. I'd hope that in any given year, you had no fewer than three true point (not combo!) guards on your roster available for duty. right now, the lady griz have three, the men just two--stockton and cherry (and i believe cherry will be a better point than two guard.) haven't seen autry play, but in the future he and cherry playing together could create some real havoc for opponents. and this makes the second year in a row we've recruited a quick athletic point guard. this bodes well for our future, believe me.

I guess this further confirms Tinkle's commitment to more pressure defense. Honestly though, do we not have too much depth at guard now? Is it safe to assume that either Young, Taylor, and Stauds see more time at 3 with McGillis now. Nevermind Stauds and McGillis graduate this year, but this does appear to make both Young and Taylor into 3's. I take it this kid is a SR this year, and will be with us next year.
