New Offensive Staff??

I am thinking Delaney FINALLY, FINALLY was forced to recognize that this offensive group is way more effective when JJ and the rest are allowed to play at a faster pace with a more open offensive game plan, whether it is no huddle, zone read, spread type formations, etc. What forced that recognition is hard to say - assistant coaching pressure, player input or just undeniable success of some of the changes? I never bought the excuse that losing some of our starting receivers was a cause when we still had Jones, Janssen, Haynes, Saylor and Van out on the field. The fact is, even with injuries, this team has been loaded at the offensive skill positions all season.

The offensive line improvement I do think has been a huge contributing factor to improved play and kudos to the O line coach and those young men for working to improve immensely over the course of the year. Here's hoping the offense continues its improving trend and style at EWU.

There is not one elite "speed demon" in that underlined group. Of course the loss of our top speedsters held back this offense. Jones and Haynes aren't too bad, but aren't as fast as Henderson, Naccarato or Walcott.

As DaeDae has articulated, we need to get the ball to Travon in space. I mean in space on earth. And also on kickoff returns. Definitely.

I am so waiting for the half back option or reverse pass going to JJ. That trick play is set up. Offensively the GRIZ need to have a goal of no less than 35 points. I honestly don't see EWU's offense putting up more than 35 on the GRIZ defense. Meanwhile, EWU's defense has been horrible all year, with very little improvement this season.

I really feel good about the GRIZ/EWU playoff game .

If you talk to Mick or JJ. They will let you know the zone read was practiced and prepared all year. JJ was pretty beat up this year and the zone read required tons of mobility. JJ likes being undercenter as much as the gun. JJ loves the playfake and he's good at it. But now our offense has a very large book and teams have to try and contain more and attack less. When we run 4 wide with JJ and Canada in the backfield....ends are looking for the zone run. Corners are giving cushion and safteys have to stay true. It's a lot of field to cover. Then we line up power and the d collapses in but corners are on an island. We're using formations to make matchups and that's why we have been successful recently

  Get healthy enough as a team to run the whole playbook and coach players up, it is nice to see the pieces come together. Talk to Mick or JJ and they talk about having to execute the entire game not just hit and miss in each game and when we do we are good.

In any event we are better on offense now than we were at the beginning of the season.

Better does not even describe it! "Move the chains" is being heard all during the game!

If in some fantastic way we were to win it all, some will say it was genius to wait until the end of the season to play the up-tempo style we were all wishing for early. In the end it's just win baby win!
