Why not rebrand the FBS as the Football Bowl Division, and FCS as Football Playoff Division?

Because the Division is DI, period. The football classifications are Sub-Divisions of DI, not Divisions of themselves. This problem was corrected with thet got rid of the DI-A and DI-AA Divisions. Again, the Division is DI only.

Well, ok, just keep the names as they are, but change the FCS name to Football Playoff Subdivision.That would clarify the distinction between the two subdivisions and name the new FPS for what it is: the schools who play in the playoffs for a national championship.

That may be true, but you put playoff into "playoff." Maybe Div I is going to a playoff system. I don't know how soon that may be. In the meantime, the FCS should be called the Football Playoff Subdivision. Everyone knows what that means.

Schools in the FCS already play for the official NCAA Division I championship, so it should simply be called Division I. The FBS could just be called the Bowl Division...or the Tostitos BCS Division presented by Vizio.

I do not believe the bowls will be a thing of the past. The bowls will be preserved as games in a playoff system. The FBS/BCS will still be bowl oriented. The Football Playoff Subdivision will still be a pure playoff system, so the monikers I suggest would still be accurate. No way will the Orange, Rose, etc., bowls be eliminated.
