New Music for Start of Games

How about Richard Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" when the Griz come out of the tunnel? Yeah, the Valkyries were women, but what the hell? Play it on the loudspeakers. The school song will be heard often enough thruout the game. I'm not putting down "Up With Montana....," I just think that the Griz coming onto the field is something of epic proportions, every game, like Wagner's operas. :) Maybe play it just before the Griz come out, so the band can play the school song as the guys go by.

You should contact the band director, Dr. Kevin Griggs, & let him know about your idea!

How about a few songs from Montana grown talent, and even better former GRIZ?

Proctor's band, and Sam Riddle come to mind. Both have some good tunes. Then again, not everyone likes either kind of music.

Speaking of Proctor, what is/was the name of his band? Is he still playing in a band?
Here is some stuff from Sam. http://www.reverbnation.com/samriddle" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks for the tip, GM, I'll do that.
Interesting. I contacted Mr. Griggs. Don't know how many of you know this, let alone care, but Griggs told me that the UM band director has no control over the loudspeakers, which I thought would be good for this music. I have to get in touch w/ the athletic dept.'s marketing office, since it, apparently, controls the loudspeakers. Wouldn't it make sense for the UM band director to determine what goes out over the loudspeakers and be able to coordinate that with the band on the field & in the stands?

If the band were in control of the loud speakers, I can assure you there would be no canned music whatsoever. It would be all band, all the time.

Not saying that's good or bad, just saying band directors don't necessarily appreciate canned music as much as the general fans.

As a musician, we always disliked the canned music, but the marketing folks were always great about allowing us to play when we wanted for the most part.

isn't that what y'all have played at the litter box for the last 30 years? :thumb:
You sort of right but it's the Insane Clown Possse which sings that "we will rip your head off". Kinda of like last year if you remember.
