Trey Bender and Jordan Tripp are the new announcers for KPAX/Scripps sports.
My dead grandma would’ve been an upgrade to Jay.I feel bad for Marty cause I did like him but Trey Bender is a massive upgrade over Jay Kohn. That’s not even a question. Tripp will do a good job as well. Excited to see these two in action.
Wow that sucks to have these two on air now. Volume off
Promoted.Did Marty get a boot to the butt for saying “above the tits?”
He's very good and very experienced. And as an added bonus, he has some familiarity with the Griz and Wa-Griz as he's called two Griz playoff games. 2013 Coastal Carolina and 2019 SE Louisiana. Big upgrade!Wow. That is fantastic news. Trey Bender is legit.
Think this might be more of a "retirement" gig for him. I see he's also the full time play-by-play radio voice for Loyola Marymount Basketball. We should see if he can help us get a home and home with LMU in Basketball.I'm now curious how Scripps was able to land Trey Bender as the play-by-play announcer. Does he now live in Montana? He's called television games for Kansas, for Fox Sports Net Arizona, FSN Chicago, Arizona State baseball, games on ESPNU, ESPN3, NBC Universal. We seem to have hit the jackpot with getting Trey for Griz football games.
My first year at Montana I lived in Miller Hall with pretty much the entire basketball team and a good number of football players. I'd run into Marty about twice a week heading out the north entrance as he was coming back to the dorm. Someone asked me once if I had ever heard Marty speak, and I thought about it a moment. I didn't ever have a conversation, I'd say hello and he would grunt or mumble a response with a smirk on his face. This person asking me the question said, if you didn't know better, you'd swear Marty was drunk to hear him speak. After two years in the booth, any of you who had never heard him before, as well as those who know him well, might equally concur with that assessment. Especially the "above the tits" call.I thought Marty tried too hard to be impartial even though the replay clearly showed a blown call by a ref. Marty just needed to call it like it was.
