New Griz Transfer: Yagizhan Selcuk

According to the Towson website he has been inactive this year so I am guessing that would be his redshirt season and if so he may be a mid-year transfer enabling him to be eligible after the the fall semester. I don't think coaches can comment on a mid-year transfer until he is registered and school has started up again.

Love how well he gets to the basket and scores from the post as well. A lot of Breunig in that regard, minus the hops. He will be a huge asset and a very welcomed addition. It would be great, if he can get here this semester to start his eligibility clock.

Don't know if he got hurt or coaches just thought he needed more development but playing time disappeared towards the end so hopefully not another Karl Nicholas attitude-wise.

Makes me wonder what made him decide to leave Towson so suddenly. Also, if he is truly on his own, I wonder how he is going to afford no scholarship initially? Maybe he has some academic scholarships coming. His Towson Bio does mention that he is a good student.

My thinking is by saying "on his own" means he came to the US alone and not that his family has disowned him or anything. Also, I think there is a chance that a scholly opens up.

He also played at a prep school in the US. Those schools aren't cheap. Can't imagine that they give full ride scholarships. That might be an NCAA problem too.

There will be. Most every year, there is a casuality or 2, by coaches decision or player decision. If, Dorsey isn't granted another year, or gives up the game, due to health, his scholarship will be available. Also, got to wonder if 1 of the 3 young bigs will not be back. I'm pretty confident, Anderson will be back. Kramer has a great attitude and hard worker. Carter chose to be a long way from home and apparently is pretty well liked by everyone. Plus, got to love Aussies. I really don't know why any of them would leave, other than DeCuire having very high expectations, and doing what he feels is best to field the best team possible.

You are right about the box scores but he doesn't appear in their team seasonal statistic and is shown as inactive in the following statistical page. Looks like he might have decided to leave the team and they are ignoring his earlier participation. Whatever it is it is confusing to me and that doesn't take a lot.

A 6-8 frosh transfer from Towson committed to the Griz tonight. He is originally from Istanbul, Turkey.

He played BRIEFLY for Towson this year, a terrible D1 program that is currently 5-11. I, admittedly, know nothing about this guy but If he can't cut their roster, how is he gonna crack ours?

Towson has, seemingly, eliminated all proof he was at Towson, but I found that he went 1-1 in 3 minutes of action in a blowout over Wesley. I didn't look up every boxscore, but he rarely played I think is safe to say. Like I said, I have NO IDEA if he's legit, but I would think he'd have a better chance at Towson than here, but I welcome him and hope he can contribute some day.
