What? Where did you see that date?

Have they even completed the feasibility study on that project? There is NO WAY it's going to be completed by 2014. Using past fund-raising campaigns as a guide, I would say the absolute earliest they can get it started would be 2016, and that's assuming they can get the Trustees to approve it.

That said, I wish the thing was done already so I wouldn't have to sit in those rickety bleachers and not be able to see a scoreboard.

In his dual role with Eastern and the EWU Foundation, Westfall’s job is “to facilitate communication and make sure that we adhere to both sets of governance requirements. Ultimately, it’s up to both boards to decide whether this is feasible, so it could be a three-year or 10-year process or not even get off the ground.

The project would be funded by donations only and if approved, would be attempted to be completed in 30 months, September of 2014.

Something like this wouldn't be announced, and a couple hundred K invested in designs/studies if there weren't a good chance this would go through and donors would be on board. Turf was approved/announced in late Jan or early Feb, 1M+ raised and project finished by Sept.

1. Agreed that it's unlikely that they would announce the plan without at least a decent chance it would move forward.

2. If they paid a couple hundred thousand for their concept design, they got ripped off.

3. There is NO WAY they can fund and build that project in two years. The only way for that to happen is if they have one donor who has committed about 3/4 of the money for the project. And since they're still in the feasibility stage, I can guarantee that has happened. I'm relatively familiar with capital campaigns, and they ain't gonna raise that money in the next 14-16 months.

4. As noted above, I really hope they can make it work.

From what I've heard, there are a couple big donors on board already.

That's a good conference, but the WAC and MWC members listed are going to fight like hell to stay away from the Big Sky teams. They will try to stick with the WAC/MWC remix they're working on now and completely avoid the disgrace of being lumped in with FBS programs. They might take on one or two, but they aren't going to take half the Big Sky.

Im not anti EWU but I dont see them getting into anything like that at all in the near future. Webers even lower on the list of actual contenders.

Cal Poly..... yes if they wanted to commit.

As I thought most griz fans would like a better conference with better competition and a playoff system....

It seems that that is what is on the horizon, looking at the happenings in the NCAA, I believe it will happen sooner rather then later.

But we are talking about the NCAA...
